Destination wedding help!

I am getting married in Florida this August. FI and I are flying down a few days before the ceremony to get ourselves settled in and go over any last minute details. I am having one problem however. I have no idea how to get my wedding dress there! I am a nervous wreck!

For those of you who are planning or have had a destination wedding, how did you get your dresses there... in one piece? I am nervous about packing it and it getting ruined or lost. Does anyone have any suggestions?!? I know that I won''t be able to carry it on, and no one will be driving down. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Actually, I think you may be allowed to carry it on if you call the airline ahead of time and explain. If you have it in a garment bag, they may be able to hang it somewhere. I''m planning to carry mine on like that. This article also has some good tips on transporting it.

Definitely check with your airline. I had a friend who got married in Jamaica and she carried hers on. Once they found out what it was they were really helpful, hanging it where it wouldn''t wrinkle etc.

You can almost always carry it on. If you call ahead of time, they often will let you store it in the first class cabin to make sure it can hang throughout the flight.

Thank you both so much!!! Calling the airline wouldn''t have even registered in my mind. I''d have probably ended up trying to stuff it in a suitcase.

I''m carrying mine in a dress bag onto the plane for sure. Don''t put it in your luggage!!! What if it gets lost?!?!?!?

No! don''t let her (your dress!) out of your sight. Tiffanytwisted is right, once they find out that it''s your wedding dress - all the girls will be ohhhhing and ahhhhhing and will take care of it. Maybe they''ll even give you some champagne and a free set of headsets!! Ha!!
