Well.....I have never posted on here, but have been reading threads on here for the last few weeks. The first thing I want to say is that I am recently engaged, and have been researching about diamonds to find out some information. I am young, and don''t know too much about diamonds, but I can tell you this. After reading all of the bashing that goes on on this site, I would not purchase a diamond from any of you. This is extremely unprofessional. If you are going to participate on a site that is meant to give information to the consumer, you should be giving information about the stones, and not worrying about what everyone else is doing in their business.
I got interested in what was being said about how PS was posting jewlers without their permission, and am also surprised to find out that there is not lawsuit against them. I think that this is underhanded, and just plain wrong. If you thought what you were doing was ''right'' or was going to ''help the jewler,'' you should have had no problem notifying them that they were going to be on your site.
Just some food for thought from a new consumers point of view.
Welcome Deluca. Let me discuss your points.

There are many public domains that list various websites, some even rank them with participant voting systems etc.
Is that unfair too?
We list local jewelers and allow consumers to find by searching etc - what experiances other people have had with those companies. We have even seen the owners of some of the very largest diamond websites come here and answer peoples problems and rectify and improve their services as a result.
As for making it possible for jewellers to get extra local business from people who are researching and possibly going to buy on-line - well Leonid certainly should not apologise for that.

What is the difference between what Leonid''s Jeweler search did and www.froogle.com (by the Google people)? Wasn''t his a webcrawler of sorts? If you search on froogle, many different jewelers with different stones come up. If it was illegal and warranted a lawsuit, I''d assume that froogle or google, for that matter, wouldn''t exist. I have a website that comes up on a Google search, but I never gave them permission to list it- it just exists on a public domain (the web). Maybe I have misunderstood something.

Pardon me, deluca, if by any stretch of the imagination you might be a young consumer who recently became engaged. I am afraid you are not at all credible, however. (Talk about shills!)

I have supported Jan and Brad Roshto and Diamond Brokers of Florida for their consistently excellent service, and this is an issue about which they have spoken. If they speak about it, at least they do so openly. Whoever you really are, you are not being open.

No young bride or groom comes on here to research diamonds (after the engagement, mind you) and immediately looks into issues such as whether the vendors that come up in a Pricescope search are listed with or without permission. I don''t even do that and I have been reading diamond boards for years.

I wouldn''t be surprised if you are a member of Polygon...and you are right, a young bride or groom would not even know what that was.

AGBF - I think you''re underestimating the level of intelligence and/or level of inquiry that goes on before and even after a young person spends thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry. I, for one, researched this site (and others - believe me) for MONTHS, digging in the forums'' archives and following the little trails back to 2000 and 2001 even when all this b.s. apparently started. That having been said, it''s telling how any voice of dissention here gets treated and labelled.

You know what Iv read this thread all 5 pages and read his rants and my feelings are that it isnt worth getting worked up over.
Let him stew in his own bitterness and lets get on with talking about pretty rocks, pretty Ladies, awesome proposal stories and kewl cars.
I agree. Guys, negativity is destructive, not creative. If we''ll continue kicking this dead horse, we can start attacking each other. Let''s this thread die.
