Here is the diamond I am looking at and here are the stats. I was originally looking for G VS1, but this stone looks good. Do you think I should hold out for the G or H VS1? I don''t mind going a little smaller to get a better stone, although I am told that this one looked better than two more expensive ideal cut H VS1''s. It has nice hearts and arrows (cutter is in Belgium, if that means anything). I have to decide soon!

They usually will try to cut them to a full 1.50 weight - for the price mark.

I have until 5:00 to tell them definitely if I want the stone (before they send it back). But my husband says to get it! I am sure he is tired of the process! Ha! They have a beautiful Tiffany reproduction which was how I was leaning, but he surely has some beautiful other choices as well. I''ll probably have to start a setting thread to get help with that, too! Lol!

I think your diamond looks stunning

I would go with it if it was me but I know you have been going back and forth about the G VS1...if clarity and color are super important to you then you should hold out for what you want. But you do say they have a 30 day return policy so why not have them send you the stone and you can view it to see if you will love it???

Re: concern about specs, I have a H VS1 and I can tell you that I've never, ever second-guessed myself for having picked too low a color or clarity. More like the other way around

In fact, next time I would probably aim for exactly H VS2 - a great "mind clean" combination, IMO.

I DID IT!!!

I talked to Isaac (the owner of Dimend Scaasi) this afternoon about this H&A stone and any others he might have, but this one is closest to what I have been looking for! He even is going ahead and setting it, and I still have the 30 days to return, change settings, or change anything I am not happy with. Can''t get much better than that. I feel that this size stone is hard to come by, especially in an excellent cut, so I''d be almost crazy not to at least look at it. And I do feel very optimistic it is "the one". But of course, if I decide I have to have something else in two years, I can upgrade and get the full value out of this stone! So I have little to lose if I love this stone! Since they custom make the settings, it''ll be a couple of weeks before I have it, so it''ll be a little while before I can post on Show Me the Ring!

Here is the setting I am planning on, unless I change my mind overnight!!! After I get it, I''ll figure out an eternity ring or w-band for my anniversary ring! Then you can help me with that project! (Incidentally, DS uses ideal cut diamonds of VS clarity in their wedding and eternity bands, so I hope to buy that from them as well.)
