Hi there,

I’m in an auction to buy this ring. At the moment I have the winning bid but I don’t expect that to be the end of it.
I was hoping for opinions on what you would pay as there is no valuation. (The lot it’s in is all very high end jewellery and watches and the auction house if very reputable). Keeping in mind I’m working in Australian dollars here.
the details for the ring are -

  • Platinum Band and Bow
  • Approx. 0.90 Carat Pave Set Brilliant Cut Diamonds
  • Diamond Colours F
  • Diamond Clarity VS1
  • 92x Diamonds in Total
  • Ring Size L
  • Total Weight Approx. 10.50g
Opinions on value versus what you would pay would be great.3144AA73-C905-4394-BF7E-C2A116A081AE.png

Well.... one day left and I was sure I would have been outbid by now.
I figure it has to be worth more then the $289 bid ($340 with fees).
I do really like it and will wear it regardless.
I just wanted my hubby to think it was a good deal....
Guess if I end up with it I will have it valued for my own presence of mind.

Seeing as I haven’t gotten any answers here - I don’t feel confident to keep bidding or up my auto bid.

Sure, I'll pretend the diamonds are a bit worse than stated at H SI1. That gives a price of around 500/ct if they are about 1.5 pointers (I guesstimated based on counting half the ring.) Scrap value of metal is around $289. So value of diamonds + scrap is about $740. If I loved it I would bid up to that.

Don’t forget to leave room for the buyer’s premium, shipping, tax, and sizing if you need it.

Thankyou so much for responding, I really appreciate it.
(That’s in Aussie dollars yes?)

At least if no-one outbids me it won’t be because I bid too much.

I do love the ring (although it won’t work for everyday wear) and hope they are close with the grading so it will sit nicely next to my G VSI engagement ring.
I also taking a chance with the sizing as I only know my ring finger is a 5.5 or a j-k so I’m hoping my middle finger is an L (I don’t have a ring that fits that finger to size compare).
I usually have to have rings downsized anyway.
Basically I know the only way my partner is going to be ok with me buying this is if I got a *really* good deal.
Personally I really like it (not in love yet) but would be happy to pay what it’s worth because I know I will wear it.

It’s also bothering me SO much that it is upside down in every photo.
how could you not notice that?? Argh.

I love bows, I hope you win!!!
