Asking for a friend who is eyeing an electronic drum kit!

Back story...

I participated in a student concert organised by my clarinet teacher, to raise funds for a family who was left with a house that was not habitable after botched renovations being carried out by rogue traders.

The son and daughter of the said family are also students of my clarinet teacher, and they too participated in the concert.

The daughter is less than 10 years old and she played brilliantly on the drums while her older brother played the electric guitar.

Her enthusiasm inspired me to try drumming.

My teacher joked about naming different components of the drum kit with names/issues so that I could bash them to my heart's content.

Ok, group thoughts on this ban-breaker?

Pros: 1. Lusciously hefty 2. Fits me perfectly 3. I was planning on making my own emerald gypsy, and this saves me the effort of going custom.

Cons: I don't know much about emeralds to know if this was worth the purchase price. Being from TRR, there is no info on the emerald other than "natural" and ct size.

It's gorgeous. I'd have dog-paddled right off the island for that one.

hmmmmmm

i may be going for a row in the shallows latter on this month
my tax bill was actually a refund and it is paying the property taxes and the pension office reviewed my bakery earnings from last financial year and i only have to pay back the same amount as last year so its a huge weight off my mind

just my usual little projects that keep me happy. i do have mum's pearls in being restrung right now so its just deciding what is next

I did keep it. I really like it, but the color of the emerald is not quite as deep green as in that photo. A bit more pale. Definitely not what everyone would love, but I enjoy it!

well im heading back to the island after paying property taxes and groceries (why do we have to eat ???) the morgage and the house insurance

the NZ dollar is still really sucky right now -a NZ dollar is only about 57c US
but i have worked so hard this week with our lady boss on holiday, my knee and my back is killing me and i am giving myself a reward as there is no chocolate or chocky bickies in the groceries

so one of the advantages of having a miniscal budget is i can sneak off the island

in the middle of the night i was like a member of the famouse five, sneaking off the island, remember there was a smugglers tunnel from the island to Uncle Quinten's office, well its 2024 and Uncle Quinten has a laptop

Alright. Putting myself on ban island for at least 6 months to start. I got a recent unexpected bonus and maybe went a little shop happy about it to the point where I need another bonus haha. My job also recently has needed people to work overtime and so I’ve been putting in extra hours with the idea of using some of the “extra” funds for fun bling but I gotta temper it. At my age 80 hour work weeks aren’t sustainable no matter how nice the bling it’s enabling. Also I’m supposed to be saving for a house and am the primary earner. So financially things are fine despite the recent shopping spree but I gotta stop splurging and telling myself I’ll just pick up more hours.

I know im a sucker for a deal though so I’m gonna stop checking in on the thread that enable that by posting good finds!

this is me too!! I got my 'tax season money' (Im a CPA) and somehow I spent 2x what i made... how did that happen??!!?? Well, at least gold has value, right??? I call it a SMART FINANCIAL MOVE!!
