In feeling frustrated with how expensive Save the Date magnets are (at least to me), I decided to try to make my own!

I used a business card template on Pages on my mac book, and put in a picture of my fiance and I, a graphic (dandelion) and then the text. I printed a "test page" on regular paper, and will take a picture of it with my digital camera to upload on here. :c)

I plan on buying the Staples brand magnetic sheets to print them on my little ink jet printer, and will then cut them apart using a paper cutter!!

ick...the colors are really off...

the "Save the Date" text and website address is grass green
the rest is black

Our picture looks streaky - we must be running out of colored ink!

What do you think?? If it looks like crap you can tell me!!

I''m worried that their small. I also thought I could make them bigger in a Word document, that way I can add a border and have them look a little more "finished".

Also, we haven''t had our Engagement Photo session yet, so this picture will probably be different...

Thanks!

Love the idea of a magnet!
Will those be your wedding colours as well?

Thanks ladies!! They''re still a work in progress. I actually just made up a draft in Microsoft Word, with green borders and they''re a little bigger than a business card. Once I get the margins to cooperate, I''ll post the other version!

Yes, my wedding colors will be grass green, white, ivory, and probably a brown of some sort (medium brown).
The bridesmaids will be wearing grass green, and the guys will be wearing black with grass green ties (haven''t found those yet)!!

These are really cute. I like your color palate, and how it played out in the magnets.

looks good to me, probably just need some new ink cartridges

very cute! are you going to get engagement photos done also for the magnet? my only thought was how would it look with a frame around your picture?

Yes, we will be getting our e-pics taken sometime in November. I just stuck in a "filler" picture to get a sense of what it would look like.

I just made a Word version, with a double-line green border around the magnet, and it looks much more professional! Now i just need to get more ink!!
