So I finally decided on my place cards: I''m typing a yellow ribbon around the ol'' oak tree in front of the tent and clothespinning the escort cards onto the ribbon around the tree.

I want to tie little bows onto the cards -- I found an adorable navy grosgrain with swiss dots -- but how much do I buy? For you DIYers, how much ribbon should I estimate using for each bow?

Sorry for such a random question!

That sounds SO cute.

I''ve worked with creating miniature scale things quite a bit and have tied many, many little bows. As far as the length of ribbon you need for each bow goes, it really depends on how small a piece you are able to work with. It also depends on the width of the ribbon. It can be difficult to work with tiny pieces of ribbon. Some people can make a little 2'''' piece of thin ribbon into a perfect teeny bow. Some people need a little more play to get a bow. I would recommend at LEAST 4 inches of thin ribbon (like a couple of mm wide) for each bow (but again it depends how small you want the bows).

Do you have any idea of the size of bow you want?

What I would do is buy 1/2 yard of the ribbon you are looking at using and play with tying different lengths of it into little bows until you figure out exactly the size bow you want and exactly the length of ribbon you will need to maintain your sanity as you tie all those little bows.
