I''ve never really done anything like this before, but my graduate class was cancelled tonight so I had four extra hours and thought I''d try to design our save-the-dates myself. I actually had a ton of fun doing it, and I even used the same program (Print Shop) to design my handouts for class tomorrow.

I was going for a simple yet fun vintage feel. What do you think?

I really like it!!!!!! Looks a bit western to me though...not sure if that''s what you were going for?
But I think it''s original and I love the fonts!!!!!!

I think its great! I agree that the font for the Save the Date section definitely gives an "Old West" saloon-type vibe.

How are you going to use it? Printed Card? Magnet?

Thanks, ladies!

How do you see it? I posted the wrong version of the save-the-date, but now I''m having a difficult time uploading the real version that I plan on using.

That''s so funny that you''re getting an old west vibe from the font, it screams late 19th-century to me, I actually got it from a "retro" font site. Odd! I think I''ll use it anyway, because I really do love it.

Okay, I''m going to upload the real version as soon as I can get it to work!

Go for it, I really like it!!!!

Okay, I''ve never had so much trouble uploading something to PS before.

Here''s the final design, or at least the final design for tonight. Thanks for looking!

Love it!

Don''t kill me but I also think the SAVE and DATE look very very western. I really love the layout and other font though!

Oh goodness, I CERTAINLY don''t want to send the message that we''re having a ho-down for our wedding! (Not that there''s anything wrong with that.)

I''m going to play with some other fonts and see what I can come up with. Thanks for all of your input, gals!

Okay, ladies, here's another version. Any preferences for one over the other? (This one doesn't look Western, does it?

(That dotted line would obviously NOT be there on the save-the-date.)

OOoh, I like #2 - looks adorable and not at all Western :)

Love the new font for the "save" and "date"
I think there was something about the first version I liked better though. Not sure if it was the size of the fonts, or maybe the type of font for the date?
If you only change the "western" font and nothing else, what does it look like?
You are very creative and I love all the fonts and overall design idea!!!!

Mandarine--are you referring to the first one that I posted with the "western" font (as a jpg attachment) OR the second one I posted with the "western" font (as a gif)? Thanks for the feedback, I''ll try the change and post it when I get a chance!

the second one you posted with the western font...
It is fun to design these things isn''t it?...once you start then all the creative "juices" just start flowing!!!
M~

Mandarine--It is seriously addicting once you get started! Thanks for your help, by the way, I really appreciate it.

I changed the date font back to the date font used on the other save-the-date--is this version better? What does everyone think?

it is definitely addicting!
I do like this version better and figured out why I loved the western one too...it''s the different shades within the fonts!.....so it wasn''t all the same black, you know what I mean?

I definitely agree about the letter shading--to be honest, I still like the "western" font better!

I''ll see if I can find a good font with shading that doesn''t look western!

haha, it''s not that Western and to be honest, I too like it better!
Keep looking, maybe you''ll find another font that has what you like about the western one without the boots ;)
M~

oooh so far my vote goes for #3 (i wasn''t able to see the one in your first post to start the thread so maybe my #3 is your #4?) but i still want to see what you can come up with....i love the lettering on the date in #3!!

did you buy the fonts or did they come with printshop?

Thanks for indulging me, ladies!

Kara--I downloaded them all for free from dafont.com. They have a ton of great fonts; it''s so much fun to browse and download!

Haven,

I LURVE them! I think you did a great job! BTW, you can either print those yourself or download them to Vistaprint.com and get them dirt cheap with their "free" specials...just sign up and they''ll send you a link for their specials every few days. That''s how I got mine done, all for about $5 shipping, and mine even had color! They will be FANTASTIC!
