Hello!

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good wedding planning book? I have the Emily Post one but don''t really like it that much... so maybe a more colorful book? With tabs? Should I make one myself?

Most of the wedding will probably be DIY and our location is BYO everything so I need lots of organizational space!

What do you guys suggest?

Thanks!! :)

I used a white three-ring binder from OfficeMax...it had a clear plastic cover and I decorated it with cheesy stickers and slid pictures of us down inside the plastic part...it was really cute and very useful. I put clear plastic sleeves inside, as well as manilla inserts with pockets to hold loose paperwork, etc. I also put notebook paper in every section, which I separated by topic (music, flowers, dress, tuxes, BM''s dresses...). I had purchased a wedding organizer book, but it really only served as a guideline for me because it was strictly by-the-book stuff. It was small, too, and there were never enough lines to write down everything.

I still have the binder--I threw away my semi-used "real" planner! The binder is a great, completely personalized souvenir...it has song lists DH and I made together while drinking wine one night (funny to look back at how sloppy our handwriting was!), my ideas for flowers, all the torn-out pages from wedding magazines I used for inspiration for everything, most of our receipts from the DJ, photographer, florist, tux shop...I love looking through it still. It''s basically a scrapbook!

I did the same as Monarch.

I went to CVS and bought a 3-ring binder, tabs with pockets, and some paper for notes. On the front of the binder I made a cheesy graphic up that says: 'Caribou and Caribou's Fiance's Wedding Planner' and then I taped a picture of my dream cake topper which costs like $500

.

On the inside I have 4(??, I don't have it with me right now) tabs:

Ceremony/Rehersal
Dress/Tux
Cake/Flowers
Misc

Whenever I find a picture in a magazine that I could possibly use, I like I rip it out and stick it in the pockets. While I'm doing research (at work

) I print something off, three hole punch it and stick it in it's appropriate tab. If I have a thought or idea, I jot it down in it's appropriate tab section.

This could or could not save money, depending on how much you put into it. I think I ended up spending the same on my homemade planner as one I could buy at a store. But the store ones have a lot of things that I don't need (we aren't having a DJ for example) and it's mine..no one else has one like it.

I do recommend that you either make or buy a planner..... especially if you are an unorganized person like myself. I haven't even booked a hall yet and it's pretty full of stuff.
