OK, so you know how my DJ copped out on me? Well, when I was originally looking around for people, it crossed my mind to get in touch with this fabulous guy whom I knew when I was a teenager and worked in a record store. He is a professional DJ (of the club, not the wedding variety) and has since become pretty famous in my home country. Anyway, I got nervous about whether he''d remember me, and whether it would just be horribly uncool if I asked him to spin at a wedding. So I gave up the idea.
Anyway, my sister was chatting with him recently at the club where he has his ''home base'' and she mentioned that she was my sister and he was all "REALLY? Indy is like such an amazing special person. Blahblahblah." And we''re going back some years here. So I was really touched when my sis told me that. So, now that we''ve lost the other DJ, I took a deep breath and e-mailed the owner of the club (since I have no contact info). She called me right back and was super nice and we had a great chat and she said she thought he''d LOVE to do it, so long as I promised him that there would be no requests or anything cheesy like that. So she is calling him now to give him my contact information.
If this comes through, it is going to be so AMAZING. For one thing, this guy was really kind and wonderful to me when I was younger, a mentor. And for another, he is, like, the best DJ around. Plus, because he''s a ''grown-up'' and a really nice guy, he would understand about keeping the music at the right level, danceable, jazzy, but inoffensive to my elderly future father-in-law.
So... excited!
I really hope this works out. Then my wedding is going to be the hottest party in town that night.
cross your fingers for me girls.
