Do You Have a Favorite Gold Designer?

Today I picked up this beautiful 18k gold chain. I've been wanting a really long one for many years, to wear pendants on. I have chains in 18 inches, but none longer in gold. This one is around 60 inches, so it can be worn double, or triple layered. this chain is old and has that thick, solid feeling of quality which is somehow difficult to find in modern chains. Seen here with a nephrite jade pendant with a spessartite in the center.

Congratulations, Bluegemz! That is a great chain. The more gold, the better. Where did you find it?

Thanks Deb! I found it at an antique and vintage jewelry store . They just don't make chains with the same heft as they used to. I have an old silver chain too, and I've never found anything like that one also. When it comes to chains, if one can find the ones from before the 1950's, they are usually beautifully made with an amazingly large amount of metal compared with modern chains. This one is truly weighty and looks thick, which is why I had to have it. I also knew that I'd have a hard time finding such a long one again.

You are absolutely right about what can be bought now, Bluegemz. You found a wonderful chain.I started a silver thread years ago. I will bring it up. If you have the time, please post a photo of your silver chain in that thread! (I should talk! I haven't posted a new photo in years, because after my old camera broke, I never figured out how to work the new one I bought!)

Thank you for sharing. I did see the other items you shared upthread, by the way! Nice jewelry!

If you bring the silver thread up, I'll definitely post it along with some other silver things. Thank you for the compliment!

A thread about silver jewelry (lockets) led me tonight to the website of a designer about whom I had never heard. It turned out that she also works in gold. At first I was tempted by her (extremely expensive) 18K gold charms because I have a traditional charm bracelet. I later found her Poesy bracelets, however, and wanted to buy a ruby and rose gold bracelet as well as an emerald and yellow gold bracelet...for starters. One can layer them, you see. ;))

Oh. Her name is Monica Rich Kosann. The only reason I didn't buy a few bracelets tonight is that I couldn't afford even one. Maybe someday.

Hi, Cheryl-

Thank you so much for posting all those lovely photos! When I logged in, they got bigger and I was able to see far more detail on each of them!

Other people who come to this thread at some point or another may not know that you are posting here in response to my request to you to do so in RockyTalky. We were both posting in a thread about metals started by someone who wanted to discuss the best metal in which to set a diamond solitaire and when you mentioned your flute and your late mother's 24K gold link bracelet, I asked if you would come here to post photos of them in this thread.

In the RockyTalky thread you mentioned that your flute had sterling silver buttons (or keys?) as well as being rose gold. (I have played only piano and my daughter, who is far more of a musician, never played flute. But if I come to think of it, I couldn't name the parts of a clarinet or a saxophone, both of which she did play, either!)

If you get a chance, please tell us a little more about the jewelry you inherited. That jade looks beautiful to me. Is all the gold 24K or just one bracelet? I have to tell you that it is all my taste, whatever it is made of and I am swooning over it!

Thank you again for your time!

Hugs,
Deb :wavey:

The yellow gold takes my breath away! It looks like paper . Does it have a delicate, foil-like feeling to it? It is simply exquisite! (Not that jade with diamonds is bad, either ;)).) Wow.

Deb :))

Are you asking about the engraved 24k bangle? I didn't take that one because I would not wear it. It is hollow and there was a ding in it.

Could I ask you to take more detailed pics of your flute? I love love love the color! How does being rose gold affect the sound? Does it resonate higher or does the rodw gold give it a more mellow tone?

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the place to post my question, but here goes. I found some high karat gold jewelry I really like on eBay, sold by jeweler Robert Elliott in Taos, NM. I clicked on the contact link in one of his listings, but it said he isn't accepting e-mails. I had a couple of questions for him, but no way to contact him. It appears he sells only on eBay. Does anyone here know of him, and how I may get in contact with him? Thank you!

I love this gold and diamond koala brooch. Not mine but wish it was!

Cuddly and dazzling. The perfect combo. :halo:

So glad you are keeping this thread alive, missy! Where did you see this koala brooch? Do you know what kind of gold it is made from? Are the eyes and noses onyx? (They look like it.) You certainly are an animal lover, my friend!

Hugs,
Deb :))

Hi Deb! I love this thread and would love for others to share more delicious gold with us here.
I believe the noses and eyes are onyx but I'm sorry I dont remember the K gold though I think it is white and yellow gold. It's gorgeous isn't it? I saw it at OWD over a year ago at one of the antique jewelry shows.
It combines two of my favorite things. Bling and animals.:lol:

I do not know what "OWD" stands for, missy! But thank you for sharing the bling!

I am sorry Deb! It stands for Old World Diamonds. Adam from OWD brought gorgeous pieces to that jewelry show last year and it was a real treat.
And in fact I just realized it was exactly a year ago when Greg and I attended that show. Adam's booth was the best one.:appl:

I posted this on social media last year with everyone's permission so I am sure they are both fine with me sharing it here again.

My dh (left) and Adam from OWD. Just so you can put a face to the name.

Thanks, missy. Wish I could see more bling from right here!

Deb ;))

Oh Deb if you ever want to visit NYC I’ll take you to see all the beautiful gold in person. In the meantime I’ll keep sharing here. Here’s another one few pics I found to share with you.
Hope you enjoy these.

It's nice to see this thread humming. The gold pictures keep coming when people keep posting....:))

I was asking about the bracelet in post#1781. It looks as if it is made out of gold foil. I wish I had a bracelet like that without stones. It reminds me a little of two Cartier bracelets worn together that I saw in the branded pieces thread, but more delicate. Who works in gold foil? I wonder if I can find anything like that bracelet on-line!

I may have talked myself into buying a stackable band. I became immersed in a thread by a poster in Rocky Talky who wanted to see if she could tie in a five stone rose gold ring with her platinum wedding band by adding another, stackable, ring. Then, just now, I went looking for "gold foil" jewelry. I came upon beautiful stackable rings during each search and it made me wonder if I "needed" to add an ultra-thin band or two to the stack of very, very, very thin stackable rings I have. Mine are so thin that I actually do not even wear them, but they were certainly very expensive! I can probably find a photo of them somewhere. (I doubt I ever put one into this thread although I posted them on Pricescope.) But this is the site where I was looking at stackable bands! (I only bought Sheldon Speyer mini-mania stackable rings in the past. These are Allurez rings. I had to look up Allurez to see if they even used real gems. [They do.] Do any of you know them?)

Deb, I don't know Allurez sorry. One vendor you might want to contact who could either make you what you want or perhaps has it in stock already is David Klass. He recently opened up an Etsy shop. I think he provides excellent quality at fair prices.

Thank you for that link, missy. I looked at it. I do not know if he works in anything other than 14K gold and I know I used platinum for at least one of my Sheldon Speyer bands. I have no idea what i used for others. I also do not think the widths were identical. I think I bought up some "leftovers" from peter Suchy, taking some bands that were wider (by .5mm) than others. Here is what I have, though. The red bands are rubies. I remember that the yellow ring is yellow sapphires in yellow gold, but I do not recall if it is 14K or 18K gold.

Those bands are gorgeous Deb.
What exactly are you looking for? A stackable gold band in 18K yellow or rose gold?
