The first bit of jewelry that I have received from my significant other four pieces so far:

1) My bf and I were out shopping and I was looking for something with a heart to it and he picked out this pink stained glass heart necklace to go with the outfit that I was planning on wearing that night.

2) Later that evening he gave me for my gift a lovely bracelet with hearts all the way thorugh it.

3) A year and a half a go he suprised me with a promise ring with a gold heart.

4) This year I received Hearts and Arrows diamond studs from my stud.

There is a heart theme definitely going on here. He certainly has they key my heart.

My first piece of jewelry from my DH was my e-ring. We had a whirlwind romance--6 months from 1st date to engagement.

My first piece of jewellery from any BF was a sterling silver necklace and locket. It was a horrible gift because it was a heart (which is not at all my style), his mom picked it out for him (he didn't even see it until i opened it), and he gave it to me as a bribe (because he was leaving for 6 months and he wanted me to stick around).

My current BF has bought several gifts of jewellery for me over the years --- a very pretty white gold and diamond bracelet (stolen!!!), a diamond and sapphire watch (stolen!!!) and a few more casual watches which i wear all the time. My favourite gift from him was a white gold anklet because i had just broke my old one, so he wanted to replace it --- just because, no special occassion.

My husbands first jewelry gift to me was a sterling silver necklace from Fire & Ice. It had this awesome filigree pattern all around and 3 small tear dropped shaped pieces that hung down and it was that roman glass. Little pieces of blue/green glass that came from old stained glass church windows they dug it. It was really cool and I got sooooooo many compiments on it from how different and pretty it was. We had only been together a few months and he spent TOO much on a birthday.

Then no more jewelry until my engagement ring which was probably a year or so after the necklace.Right before valentines day. All the while i''m wearing this necklace. Every Single Day.

Last christmas I got white gold chandelier earrings with little diamond chips in them. Had to put them away though for the wedding :) Then for valentines day I got an awesome white gold opal and pink sapphire ring. I love it cause usually opals are cut round and this is like an emerald cut shaped opal. Not too long after that he got my wedding band. .50ct round and baugette platinum. But of course can''t have that till the wedding day. Meanwhile still wearing this original necklace.

Then around september he decides I NEED a new necklace. That 2 years of everyday wear has somewhat '' run down'' my necklace. He got me a really cool silver pink tourmaline necklace from the Rennaissance Fair. Then fast forward to October and it''s my birthday and imagine my surprise when it''s a jewelry box. I was SO surprised because honestly besides my original necklace this was the only thing he had picked himself. (I told him I liked chandelier earrings and showed him photos, he saw me gazing at the opal ring and I picked out the necklace at Ren Fest) It was a gorgeous princess shaped pink sapphire in a pave halo setting. I freaked about him buying some pricey but he said it wasn''t, the sapphire was lab created. That really affects the price and all I have to say is I L O V E the color in it and I don''t care if God or man made that thing!!! I also had seen a diamond necklace I really wanted for my wedding day and he pretty much paid for over half of it so I guess thats like a gift as well. All in all the past year has been a big jewelry year!!! All thats not counting the stuff I got myself! The necklace my mom gave me for xmas! and the upgrade my hubby got me for xmas! But this what our last year with meager responsibility. Now that were trying to get a house we''ll have more bills than we know what to do with and no more jewelry for a long time!

Sorry this is so long I know the thread said write abotu the FIRST thing but it''s early, i''m not going to work and I can''t go back to sleep!

My first piece of jewelry from a boyfriend was a cross necklace with tiny blue stones on it. It is LONG gone...

The first piece of jewelry that my happy hubby ever got me was my e-ring. After that experience he begged me to buy my own jewelry (including picking out my own wedding ring!) going forward.

What a great thread--thanks Dancing Fire for bumping it!

When I was 14, the "love of my life" (heehee) gave me a pretty yellow gold necklace with a butterfly charm as a token of his everlasting love for me. I went home to show my mom, who was visiting with one of her girlfriends. My mom''s friend had come over to tell my mom that someone had stolen some jewelery from her, including her prized yellow gold necklace with a butterfly charm! Imagine her face when I came inside and said, "Mom look what (boy crush) gave me!"

My first real gift came from my high school boyfriend on our first Christmas. We had been only dating 2 months so I thought it was very generous that he gave me a pink oval zirconia yellow gold necklace and matching earrings. I dont have it anymore because the cubic zirconias fell out of their settings and the gold turned my skin green. LOL!

The first (and only so far) jewelry gift my dear boyfriend gave me was a pair of two-tone (one side is YG and the other is WG, so I can switch sides depending on my mood...

) hoop earrings with small engraved star patterns for my 20th birthday last May. I picked them out myself and I wear them every day! They are simple and unexpensive, but I really cherish them. The second gift will be my engagement ring, very possibly next summer!! Before January 2007, at any rate...

When we were juniors in high school, my boyfriend - now DH - gave me a "promise ring." White gold, tiny diamond chip on these tall prongs. It cost nothing cuz his mom gave it to him to give to me. I thought that was a really strange thing to do since she and the boy who gave it to her didn't last! Was she saying she hoped we wouldn't last?

I still have it. It stays in my jewelry chest. It really bugged DH when I brought it out to compare the size of that to the diamond I got for Christmas. lol

My first gift of jewlery from my fiance (Oh I love being able to say that!) was a thin yellow gold band with little star bursts cut into it. It was for my 18th birthday, I was impressed becuase we had been dating just under a month and he got the right size, felt kind of bad though since I had only gotten him a Garth Brooks CD.

The first jewelry gift I got from a guy was a pave heart pendant from Bailey, Banks, and Biddle. Even after we broke up and I started dating my now-husband, I still wore it. Apparently husband noticed it b/c for my birthday (4 months after we started dating), he gave me a jade Eternal Circle pendant by Elsa Peretti. He then confessed it was meant to be a replacement for the pave heart.

On our 6 month anniversary ... I received the very classic, very pretty elsa peretti heart necklace from my boyfriend. Back then I wasn''t really into jewelry, so it was the perfect, simple piece that I could wear everyday. (And he should have proposed to back in the day, b/c all I wanted was .5 ct ... now I''m looking for something that is about 1.5!! Lol!!)

I still love this necklace and wear it most everyday (as long as it goes w/ my outfit.) I got a cute silver ring for our 4 year anniversary that I wear everyday now (he was sad at the idea I wasn''t going to wear the necklace everyday anymore, and wanted to get me something I''d wear all the time again.)

Seattle I have that same necklace and love it too!

Great stories everyone!

My first [wrapped, surprise] gift was a watch. I''m not really fancy and I don''t wear a lot of jewelry (only things that mean A LOT to me)....so a watch was a perfect first gift =) I never take it off.

The first piece jewelry he gave me was his wristcuff from Thailand. It means more to me than anything because it was his and he gave it to me because I liked it. He has another, bigger one which matches the one he gave me, and he wears it so we''re matching...as dorky as that sounds

LoL

Ok- sounds really teenager but the first thing he gave me was a spiked bracelet for Christmas 2001, the first year we were dating. I love it! I always were it to concerts. The first actual real jewelry he gave me was Christmas 2003, giving me opal earrings that almost exactly match the pendant I always wear. The year before, I lost one of the the set I usually wear. I was so suprised. He says "see? I''m paying attention to the details."
