I was wondering how many people out there work out with rings on??? Do you work out with your e-rings/wbands on? Are they damage-free from working out with them on?

I am thinking about getting a cheapie for the gym, and leaving my ering/wband at home. I am afraid I will ruin them at the gym.

Any suggestions?

ETA: I guess it's important to know what style ring it is...pave vs plain band for example.

Thanks!

I road bike. Since I wear gloves while doing so, I thought that this would make it ok for me to wear my e-ring while riding. It got FILTHY!

Hadn''t even thought of that!

Sorry if this is gross, but I think it was the persperation...

I wore my original wedding set, which was a plain metal band and a 0.21 ct solitaire, everywhere. I still wear my 1 ctw channel set half eternity to the gym. But I leave the rest of my nice (read more delicate) rings at home.

So, I think it depends on the style of rings. Anything with pave should remain at home, IMHO. I suggest getting a plain metal wedding band to wear to the gym if you want to work out and still look married. They are not that expensive, and are very useful.

I think all people sweat, so not really gross.

I just want to make the "I''m married, and not interested" statement while I''m at the coed gym. What metal would anyone recommend for a ring if I''m lifting weights etc?

I have a 2 mm 14 k yellow gold band that works just fine.

Thanks Flygirl I will have to get a plain band. I''ve seen some very inexpensive sterling silver ones too.

Silver would be a simple option and inexpensive option.

I work out at home and take off my eng. ring, but leave my band on if I''m doing aerobics or eliptical, but I take it off too when lifting weights.

I don''t wear my rings when working out, not because of the sweat/dirt/damage factor, but because my fingers swell enough to make them tight and uncomfortable.

I work out with my rings on but I use machines and not free weights. It iI was i think I would remvoe them. I remove them when I am playing golf but I feel nervous that they will get stolen at home while I am on the course lol.

No, I hate having them on if my fingers feel swollen or sweaty. What about wearing them on a chain?

I always take mine off before working out. I''m afraid of hurting it on a machine

I would be paranoid the chain would break and I would lose them, or the chain rubbing them would hurt them (a little paranoid)! Katebar: I know what you mean I hate leaving them home.. or out of my site. Even at night when I take them off to sleep I am paranoid someone will sneak in and steal them!

Nooooo! I never wear my rings when working out or lifting weights. I don''t even wear them when I''m playing golf. Sports and jewelry just don''t mix in my opinion. Why risk possible damage?

No way!!! They would be totally uncomfortable, and they would get sweaty and gross!!! YUCK!!!

I do wear my rings when I work at. Depending on what weights I''m doing, I''ll take them off and put them in my inner pocket in my shorts. I''m sure one day I''ll probably lose them.

I never wear my rings while working out. I''m too afraid of damaging them. Also, when I sweat, any ring I have on ends up feeling tight and uncomfortable.

I never wear my rings while working out...which is easier now that I go to the gym straight from home and back home. When I first got engaged I left my e-ring in the locker at the gym. I got to work and realized it wasn''t on...I was so freaked out, that I called the gym and by the time they put me on hold to go check...i was in a cab back to the gym. It was still sitting there.

But I hate working out with it because e-ring rolls, I dont even like to shower with it. The wedding band doesnt bother me as much!

Usually I just wear my 2mm white gold band to the gym, but when I am feeling particularly obsessed with my rings I will wear them so I can stare at my diamonds while I stretch, ride the bike, do sit ups... 1

I won''t wear them if I do weights, too uncomfortable and I''m afraid I''ll bash them.

I do wear mine to the cardio kickboxing classes, but definetly not the bag class. I wouldn''t dare lift weights in it- although that isn''t a problem since I haven''t touched weights in monthes.

I wear mine at the gym. Mostly I do sit-ups or aerobics, the treadmill, bike, or weight machine. It''s not a problem for me, really.

I ride too, with gloves, but what really changed my mind was taking a spectacular fall 2 years ago.

Now I just carry ID and that''s it. Don''t want a ring bent in any case.

Definitely don''t wear my rings while working out! Heck, I don''t even usually wear them when I am home. They are the last thing I put on before I leave and the first thing I take off when I get home. I don''t clean or cook in them ever either.

Usually no. I run on the treadmill, and sometimes I whack my hand on the sidebars.

I have worn it on occasion when I''m just walking on an incline(treadmill)and honestly, it looks fabulous under the gym lights

I totally understand why you want to wear a ring to discourage men from picking you up at the gym... not that it stops them. I wear my e-ring and W band when I run on the treadmill or go on the stairmaster or take yoga classes, etc.... But I take them off and leave them at home when I take boxing classes or lift weights. If your ring has an invisible setting, I would avoid wearing it to the gym at all! I do have a cheap $10 silver band that I wear when I run marathons. That way if it slips off my finger, it''s no big deal

My hands swell way too much to wear them to the gym but I do second getting a cheap band. I plan on getting the cheap band when I''m out on my bike (motorcycle) or when I go out to the bars downtown or to a concert.

I wear my plain w-band when I work out - I used to wear my e-ring, but my original w-ring is pave and 1.7mm - didn''t want to risk anything. DH won''t wear his to work out - on our honeymoon, we found out that when sweat gets trapped in his band, he has an adverse skin reaction - eek!

No, just a plain platinum band! I''m worried I''ll crack my e-ring diamond on a machine or weights (it happened to my neighbor!). Plus, when I work out my fingers swell just a little bit and trying to get two rings off is a pain. My plain band is a bit loose, so I don''t have the same problem with that ring.

I wear a plain yg wedding band to work out-both cardio and lifting. At work I often wear them on a chain around my neck but just find they get *ahem* super sweaty when working out.

Interesting responses!
