Can you give model numbers? G&Co has so many settings and some of them are SO similar. I had one, and I thought the setting was very nice quality, especially for the price.

If you don't have photos but have seen them IRL
Niel, I just saw a lot of Gabriel rings in a B&M today (including several that kind of looked like your pictures, maybe they were those exact ones, even), but ironically, I don't think I can tell you anything useful. Everything looked pretty and sparkly! :cheeky:

I had looked at a lot of the Gabriel website pictures previously, and the rings definitely look a lot "heavier" in the pictures than IRL. Most of them were quite delicate in appearance IRL.

Niel, I think that last one is actually ER11746. And, I will be having a look at this one when I go back to my local Gabriel & Co vendor soon (maybe tomorrow). Unfortunately, I don't have the expert eyes of other PSers here, but I will let you know if I notice anything obviously amiss or unappealing about the setting.

Niel, if you're still interested in that last one (ER11746), I can report my impressions from inspecting it and a few other similar Gabriel & Co settings today.

Overall, it looked delicate and well-made. I used a loupe to inspect the millgrain and pave, and everything looked good. Even though I'm not a jewelry expert, I am a stickler for detail, so I believe I would have been able to tell if there were serious problems with the workmanship. As far as I could see, all the millgrain was evenly applied, and all prongs were aligned, evenly proportioned, and well polished. I did not inspect the melee diamonds carefully, but from what I could see while I was inspecting the millgrain work and prongs, there was nothing seriously amiss with the melee (and it was quite sparkly in the jewelry store spotlighting). I also inspected the peg head with a loupe, and did not notice any obvious seam or gaps where it had been soldered to the shank.

There were a few imperfections that I noticed in this setting and a few similar "Victorian" style Gabriel settings, which were commensurate with the price point:
  • The prongs of the peg head were not as highly polished as the rest of the setting. Especially the side surfaces of the prongs (i.e., the sides that are perpendicular to the diamond girdle) had a noticeable roughness when inspected under a loupe. When viewing the prongs without a loupe, this was still somewhat perceptible, although not terribly obvious.
  • The "curl" details seen under the cathedral shoulders from the profile view were not perfectly symmetric where they attached to the shank and/or shoulders. This mismatch was obvious under a loupe, but not very noticeable to the unaided eye.

Overall, my impression was that the setting looked attractive and well made. I hope this helps somebody! =)

Thanks Drk! I was interested in Gabriel n Co as well but unable to see their settings being in Australia. So your review really helps. Thanks!
