I was in Honolulu for business and went with a coworker who is also getting married to try on dresses. The SA pulled a dress that I never would have chosen myself, but I LOVED it on!

The problem is that it didn''t have a tag with the designer name and style. I asked who the designer was, and she said it was Pronovias. Of course now I can''t find it anywhere. Does anyone know this dress? I really want to try it on again, and I won''t be back in Hawaii until June.

The things I like about it are the modified A-line instead of the full A-line, and I love the hourglass definition it gave me. I''m short but curvy, so lots of dresses make me look kind of stumpy.

Thank you!!

Here is the full length picture (sorry for the crappy quality, I was using my phone):

And here is a close-up of the bodice. It had light ruching and lace appliques.

sorry, I can't help with that exact dress, but I know LOTS of stores carry pronovias, where do you live? there must be a store near you that carries it!!

ETA: that is really a classic style, even if you can't find that exact dress i'm positive you can find one VERY similar.

I live near Denver, and there are a few stores around here that carry Pronovias, but I can''t even find it on their website. I''m wondering if maybe she gave me the wrong designer, or perhaps the dress is discontinued?

I''m actually mixed on the embellishment on the top. I''m not much of a lace person. I just really really liked the cut of the dress - it didn''t look like anything else I have tried on.

yeah, i''m wondering if it''s a different designer, it doesn''t look very pronovias-esque to me. i''m terrible at the dress searches, but there are some pros around here, i''m sure they can help you find something very similar, if not the exact dress!

a lot of those bridal stores cut out the tags so you don''t know who the designer is so you can''t go somewhere else and buy the dress. so, i wouldn''t be too surprised if she gave you the wrong designer name. do you remember what price it was approximately? that would help narrow down the designers too.

It was under $1k (maybe $895 or $950?)...I don''t remember how much exactly but I remember thinking it was pretty inexpensive.

I''m definitely willing to take suggestions on similar dresses to consider too.

do you remember the name of the store where you tried it on? you could always call or pull them up on the web to find out what designers they carry. then, even if the sa gave you the wrong designer, you''d still know which ones to be searching. i love the dress--very pretty!

It looks like dalila from pronovias to me, but it is hard to tell.
I live in Denver and have tried half the bridal stores in the area. Try Garden Bridal Outlet. They are hands down the best, even though they are in the Springs. The owner, Renee, has gone above and beyond for my dress and is the only place that ever returned my calls.
As another short, curvy girl, I know the feeling. It looks like a lot of the shape comes from the subtle, horizontal rouching on the waist. Anything with stays is likely to give you a similar effect.

You might try something like this: http://www.demetriosbride.com/us/index.php?page=collection_destinationRomance&styleID=1546 since you wanted less embelishment but the same effect. I really liked their dresses as I thought they gave me the best hourglass.

Yes, they don''t have a website that I can find and I tried to call. There was a bit of a language barrier, and all I could get was "we have over 500 dresses, you should come try." Not very helpful. Maybe I''ll try again tomorrow and luck out with someone different.

brazen irish hussy, thanks for the tip on Garden Bridal Outlet. I haven''t heard of them before. Who do they carry? Coincidentally, I see Private Label mentioned on their website. I actually hunted down a (different) salon in HI to try on a specific dress of theirs. Very pretty, but very stumpifying!! I really liked it until I saw the pictures of the other one and realized how overwhelming the big skirt was on my frame. Here is the private label:

Hey Big Diamonds! I live in Honolulu, what bridal shop did you go to? I was just curious about the languague barrier comment. Its so common down here with all the different mixes we''ve got going on.

Hey glamourgirl! It was Casablanca Bridal...I can''t remember the street (I think it began with a D), but it is in a two story white building. They said they had just moved into the building. Do you know it?

I''m pretty sure its the one I drive past a lot. If its the one I''m thinking of, when you drive past it there''s a huge chandelier that you can see from the outside and its located on Beretania Street. That shop did recently just open up. Its a pretty store considering the surrounding neighborhood.
