I was thinking Pink Tourmaline might be a good alternative to a Diamond, with a jeweler making a custom setting in 18 KT rose gold?

It depends. You will have one side that says yes, the other that says no. My take on the whole thing is that tourmalines are beautiful though maybe not the hardiest of gemstones, so some precautions have to be taken if thats going to be your choice.

Put the stone in a protective setting, and don't wear it digging ditches or power lifing and stuff. Oh and no swimming the english channel. No dunking in chemicals to clean it aside from some basic dawn or palmolive, and no need to use a drill and powerbrush to get all the crevices; a baby toothbush does wonders. You should also not steam clean the shock of the cool down can sometimes crack the stone. (Been there and got the t-shirt! )

Also, as much as you might love it, bad idea to wear to bed...but thats any ring tbh...

Other than those things above, you should be fine:mrgreen:

Any stone, diamonds included, can have their issues, it does depend on how gentle the wearer is. The harder you are on your hands, the hardier you stone should be.

A hardier stone to choose would be a spinel, but you are also looking at a price bump in most cases.

Have you done any reading on tourmaline? if not, please do, its a beautiful species.

That out of the way, we need some deets:

Finger size
Stone shape
Budget for stone
Budget for setting
color of pink (it matters)

You can get pinks on a lot of different continents. Are you ok with any continent or you want one in particular?
