Does the backlight make the diamond look darker?

I was comparing which ring box to chose and I found one interesting thing. I took the picture and put it on my website. Both pictures were taken with a normal house light on top with the same camera.

Ring box 2 has a white backlight shooting at the diamond when the box is opened. I dont know why but I feel the white light is actually not making the diamond brighter. Or is it just me who is not seeing it right?

Looks like pic one has more light actually. You can tell because the carpet is lit up too. The other pic is just being lit up by the light or you are blocking all the overhead light with your body and head.... The lighting conditions are very different

I think the light in the box is tricking your camera in believing it''s lighter than it really is, resullting in an underexposed - if atmospheric - picture.

It also seems to project a strong shadow from the ring - I''m not sure if the light is poorly oriented and it can be regulated, or if it''s fixed in place.

Due to these effects, I suspect the two pictures look quite different from what the two boxes look like in reality. At any rate, I''d go for the "no gimmick" box. The backlight novelty effect will wear out quickly, and you don''t want to be replacing batteries every few months. JMHO

I think my camera got tricked by the light in the ring box. My focus is that if the diamond looks dimmer because of the back light.... And I wonder why.
Maybe I can put a video on my website and let you all see the difference.
