I looked at diamonds in person and also thought the .25s were too small, so though I think you are right MGR about the paper not doing the smaller stones justice, my real life experience also confirmed that I like a slightly larger side.

The .37 sides--perfect!

Hi dreamer - another idea to throw in the bag - what do you think about graduated 5stones? That ring would make for the *queen* of 5stones, massive amount of sparkle, probably cover the entire top of your finger, and prob not too much pricier given how small the stones would be..?

Ack! Now I want a 5stone!!

But if the five stone isn't in the cards :naughty: then I really like your choice of the .37ct sidestones Dreamer! it will look stunning on you. Its great that you did a cut out, as that really helps to see what it will look like, since what we see and what it *actually* looks like on ones hand is sooooo different.

such an enabler Yssie!

so.... have you made a decision?

I thought I had but now I am sort of backing off a little  . I need more time to think.

I know that if I do the reset then the .37s are the perfect sides. But since I got closer to pulling the trigger I started getting cold feet. I sort of like my solitaire  So I am not sure I am ready to commit to a reset option at the momeny. And for us right now, after talking it out, we do not want to spend any more money on diamonds for a good while. This was sort of a promise I made to myself when I got my upgrade earlier in the year and I want to stick to it, which means sticking to only spending what Andrey has generously gifted. Even though I came into some money, we have other things we should spend that on, being responsible adults and all 8) I could buy the sidestones, but even if I set them in earrings (which would not get much wear and thus feels like a waste long term), I am sort of committing to spending more on the setting at some point in the future, and that is something I don't want to create -- the desire/need to spend more money on diamonds.

Anyhoodles, I am sort of thinking about different options at this point that are stand-alone pieces of jewelry for my gift, that I can enjoy without any guilt and without thinking about moremoremoremore. I have no idea what I will do yet, but clarity will come. I am toying with a thicks scattered diamond band, which I have wanted for a while, or else saving my gift and using it in the summer for another baby ring 8)

Still, this thread was really helpful. If/when I reset my diamond in a three-stone, I sure know what the best option will be ;))

Dreamer, if you're not 100% on resetting your lovely stone, sitting on it is probably good for awhile. (I'm a slow mover on decisions like that too and can easily entertain myself for a year or more thinking on resetting things.) I do think a 3 stone would be lovely in the future if you do decide to go for it!

My idea??? Put sidestones back on your sapphire ER!!!! I seriously loved that look and you could wear it as a RHR or switch off every once in a while!!!!
