Hi everyone!!

I know I haven''t been super active on this site but I really haven''t run into any problems until now so I didn''t really have anything important or interesting to say ;)

Here''s the problem..I went to check out my dress yesterday to make sure all was well with it and pay the balance. When I tried it on it was love again but I noticed that it was coming up high under my arms. I ignored it because I assumed the seamstress will deal with it. We took lots of pics so when I got home I looked at the pictures and now I''m freaking out. The bodice sits too high on me and I''m really worried that it can''t be fixed. My wedding is in 6 months and it took 4 to get here..the thought of having to go out and look for a different dress is really making me sick. I''m going to call the seamstress tomorrow but I wanted your opinions as to whether I''m freaking out for nothing which I sometimes do. I''ve attached the photo..let me know what you think!!!
Thanks,
Aim

I don''t know the answer to your question, but I figured I would bump it so someone out there can help you.

I would definitely talk to your seamstress directly about the problem, but be assured that six months is forever for a seamstress and I see no reason why she can''t fix it. If she can''t, she should be able to tell you.

It does seem too high to me. It also looks big. I bet you just have it up too high...something the seamstress will most likely fix for you. Is it a zip/button back or corset? If it''s a corset, then it may just need some expert lacing.

It laces up in the back. It is really big in the chest area but I had to get the bigger size because I am of the narrow shoulder, narrow hip, short waisted variety..really no curves so the size smaller fit me better in the chest but didn''t fit me in the waist. I realize I have lots of time for the seamstress, I was more worried about if she can''t fix it then I have to find another dress and it takes 4 months to ship so then I''d be cutting it close. Anyways, thanks for the feedback I appreciate it..I''ll talk to the seamstress tomorrow and see what she says.

I forgot to add, that dress looks amazing on you.

As a sometimes seemstress in a past life, the problem you are looking at should be a fairly easy fix.
Don''t panic, just really look at the pictures and see exactly what you want to be changed and tell her that.

Most of all, even though your face is cut off, you look joyous in that dress! Yep, it riding a tad high there, but a good alterations person will be able to fix that. Its a gorgeous dress and its not a problem that will take more fabric to fix, so re-ordering seems rather unlikely. Do enjoy having found the dress!

Thanks everyone for your advice and kind words..I feel MUCH better about the dress now!!! I''ve attached a couple more pics..I absolutely love this dress!! It''s very sparkly!! We''re having a garden wedding with a tent and there''s going to be mini lights throughout so the dress will be very shimmery!! Exciting!

and the bustle..

and the whole package..I love the train. I really thought I was going to get a really simple dress with no shimmer or pouf at all but after I tried the simple dresses I really didn''t feel like a bride. I also tried on the super pouf, wire under skirt thingy dress and I looked like a pom pom.. when we added the veil I looked like a pom pom playing bride hahah!! It was weird, I was trying to decide between this dress and a really vintage style gown with no train. When I put this dress on the second time and stood on the little raiser in front of the mirrors, the sales person fluffed the train and my fiance''s and I''s song came on over the radio..it brought down the house..my mom, my moh and I were in tears..I found the dress..hahah I''d be tempting fate if not!!!

I love the dress! Hmm, I don''t really think it''s that high on you, but I can see what you''re saying. I don''t see why it couldn''t be fixed, but I am not a professional. What accessories are going to put with it, do you know?

My sister in law is making a very simple necklace for me and I''m on the fence about my earings. I have my lobes stretched a bit and they''re pierced 3 on each side. They have surgical steel hoops in them, I''m allergic to everything else. I think I''m going to take out the extra hoops for the day of and check if the stretched lobes are too big for reg earings, I don''t think they will be, they''re only 2 guages bigger then normal. I''m just worried I''m going to regret having them in my pictures. I''m not having a veil but I''m having little flower shaped clips put in my hair (they have little jewels in the centre of them, sparkly!!) and my hair is going to be in a very loose, messy ponytail/chignon that pulls to the left in the back (it''s hard to explain, I''ll post a shot tomorrow!). I don''t think I''m going to have anything else as I don''t want to take away from the dress. Do you have any suggestions?? Do you have your dress yet?

Ooh sounds great! Love the clips for a garden wedding, perfect! Hmmm...I would also probably take the other earrings out. If you can''t wear regular earrings, then your normal ones would be fine. You do still want to look like yourself. Yep! Well it''s not here yet, but I bought it. I am trying to decide what to do for earrings still. I don''t want to do too much, I know what you mean about not wanting to take away from the dress. I am not a huge bling kind of girl. I like shiny, but simple and shiny! By the way, the necklace is also an awesome idea that''s really thoughtful.

i think it looks like it''s sitting too high up on your hips maybe? like maybe if you loosened the lace-up back a little on the bottom and just kind of shifted it down your body a little it would be in about the right place? do you have a picture of the dress on the model so we can see where the bottom of the criss crossed part should hit on your hips? like, right now it looks like it''s hitting you at about the hip bone, when i feel like maybe it should hit you down a little further, like between your hip bone and your actual hip socket.

did that even make sense? haha i guess what i''m saying is that maybe the seamstress just took it in a little too much through the hip/lower waist (since you had to order a size that was too big in the waist) and it''s just a matter of taking it out a little bit so the dress can shift down a little...

another vote for it sitting too high. since it is corset style, hopefully will be an easy fix.

ETA : the pic with the three ladies (i am assuming at least one of them is related to you :) ) is cute - they all have their arms crossed and big smiles on their faces for you

I know what you''re saying here but I think it''s sitting where it'' s supposed too.. here''s the link http://www.morileebride.co.uk/live/welcome.asp?id=49 the model of course looks perfect in it..sheesh I really don''t like having a short torso it''s really annoying..oh well can''t change it now

. The seamstress hasn''t seen it yet so I know I''m freaking out a little too much haha!! i''m calling her today to see if i''m making a fuss over nothing!

I didn''t have time to read over all posts, so this may have been addressed already.

I actually had my very first fitting this past weekend and I had the same "problem" as you. I thought my bodice was sitting too high. The problem ended up being with the bra that i had purchased.

Are you wearing a bra with the dress? The problem seemed to disappear instantly when i decided to go bra-less and the seamstress decided to insert "pads" that will be sewn in.

So, could the bra be a problem? If you aren''t wearing one, I''m pretty positive that 6 months is enough time for a good seamstress...

Tots paro, but whatevs. It''s ridic.

Sorry, I saw the title and I couldn''t help myself, I''ve been poking fun at my good friend lately because she seems to have picked up on the "abrevs" trend.

It does seem quite high. As the other posters have said, it shouldn''t be too hard to fix. Just make sure the tailor/seamstress knows that you''re concerned about it when you see him/her!

If I read correctly that your wedding is in 6 months then I would stop worrying entirely about everything having to do with your wedding! Girl you are going to wear yourself out. Six months is plenty of time for even the most complicated of alterations.
