So I found a dress on www.bestbridalprices.com that I fell in love with. I called a few local bridal salons to see if they had a sample that I could try on and was told that the dress was discontinued.

It's still listed on bestbridalprices so I called them up but it was too late for them to call the designer. They're going to check for me for sure but it looks like I won't be able to get this exact dress.

Anybody up for suggesting alternatives?

Things I love about this dress:
- V neck
- Straps (I'm busty and really want to wear a bra)
- A line
- Simple but with a little bit of whimsy
- Natural waist

About the wedding:
late afternoon in May
Beach ceremony

Thanks in advance!

ETA - Budget - prefer to be under or around $1 thousand but willing to go up to $3 thousand for the perfect dress.

It''s a beautiful dress! I''ll see what I can do.

I''m no help with locating a similar dress, but I just wanted to say that I think that dress is gorgeous!!

What about

Casablanca 1831

Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner 4603

I''m sure there are others out there, and hopefully others will chime in with them.

Thanks so much for looking, AustenNut! I''m definitely going to have to try on that Casablanca one...very pretty!

- Isn''t it?! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love...I may consider having someone recreate it if I can''t find one I like just as much.

What a lovely dress! Who is the designer and what is the name or model # of the dress? Maybe we can search it out for you?

Clairitek - THANK YOU!!! I'm loving that Tara Keely and the first Watters dress. The Blush dress is really lovely as well...I wonder if they could modify the bust to make it a little less low cut. These are some great options!

House Cat - It is an Angelina Faccenda (part of Mori Lee) Style 1059. I would totally buy a used one if I could find it.

Here's one that I found myself last night that I really like. It's not v-neck and a bit busier than I'm usually drawn to, but I like it.

What do you think?

Modern Trousseau - Violet:

You''re welcome for the help. I really love the dresses you listed as well. They were my two favorites. I quite like the one you posted in your last post as well. Worth trying on, I think!

it is a lovely dress - I`m glad some of the PSers had so many suggestions - I hope you find something you love :)

Bestbridalprices confirmed that it is not available.

I requested a quote from Rhyme Couture to make this dress so I'm waiting to see what they say. Anyone have any experience with them?

ETA - Thanks, Maevie.

Augusta Jones makes beautiful strapped gowns.

Love her Harlow, Tia, Parker, Judy, Cognac (as a fellow busty bride, I will say that portrait necklines look amazing), Isofa, and Blythe styles :)

Thanks, shertz! Augusta Jones has a lot of nice options. I agree that the Cognac is beautiful!

Would you consider a used dress? You might be able to find it on ebay or preowned. I picked up a discontinued gown through craigslist for half the price - I don''t regret it all. It was in perfect condition.

Have you actually tried on wedding gowns? It seems a lot of people search high and low for dresses they like in pictures and then are underwhelmed when they see them in person! It''s hard to know exactly what fit will work for you until you have them on. If you have tried them on I apologize :)

I would be more than happy to buy used but can''t find it anywhere...I''ve checked all the websites.

I haven''t tried on wedding gowns specifcally yet. I do know what works best for my body though, which is why I am specifically looking for A-line dresses with straps - I''m basically pear-shaped but with boobs.

BestBridalPrices ROCK! I''m close to their real life store. I was just there Monday trying on everything I could get my hands on. They are so nice!

perhaps a bit more ball-gowny than your drea dress, but ...?

Right, I hear you! But, most bridal gowns are constructed a bit differently than other dresses. You might be surprised to see what looks good on you! I think it is really hard to just shop online without trying anything on. Beyond the fit, a lot of times the beading you love online is lackluster in person, etc. I wouldn''t focus so much on this one dress. Instead, I''d bring a picture of it with you when you go to try on to give your consultant the look you are going for!

I get you OUpeargirl. I'm not planning on buying sight unseen. I found out the dress was discontinued by calling bridal salons to find a sample to try on.

I'm just trying to get ideas for other designers that make similar styles.

ETA - I've been bridal gown shopping with a friend and my SIL before so I do know what you're talking about with dresses looking different online vs. real life.

I cannot agree more with what OUPearGirl is saying (she works in a bridal salon, so the advice she is dishing out is from experience). I thought I would want something a-line with a sweetheart neckline and I ended up with a trumpet/mermaid gown with a gentle scoop/sweetheart neckline. I would classify as pear shaped too and didn''t think I''d want my rear showcased quite the way it was but once I put the gown on I knew my fiance would love me in it. Not saying that this will happen to you, but the best advice I can give for going to bridal salons is to just go to a bunch and don''t limit yourself with what you try on. I just told the sales associates the deal breakers for me (big ballgown, anything encrusted in beading and jewels, pickups) so they knew not to bring any of that out to me. Otherwise I just let them have at it. I think I tried on 100 dresses or so and I knew with each trip to the salons what I didn''t want. Eventually I found a dress I knew I wouldn''t want to change at all.

Of course, it does help to do your homework ahead of time and be a little familiar with designers and their styles, like you are doing now. I guess what she (and I) are trying to say is to keep an open mind.

Good luck! I hope you find a dress that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.
