Hi, first off, I know I''m crazy. I''m not even engaged yet. The past weekend, I was at the mall and saw some dresses that I thought would work pass for a wedding dress, so I tried them on. *bows head in shame*
One of them from Windsor in particular spoke to me. It looks much nicer in person, and I definitely felt like a bride. Built in crinoline and everything.

My question is, how different are the dresses at a Bridal Salon? Obviously if I shell out $3000 for a dress, it will be very different. But when I buy a dress, it will probably be $400 max online from either ebay or BestBridalPrices.com. If you consider on low end designer dresses from places like these, compared to ordinary stores such as Windsor, will I see any difference?

As a side note, once I do get engaged I plan on going to a Bridal Salon just to try on some "real" dresses. I just wanted to hear other people''s experience for now. Thanks

The dress is lovely! I have to say though that there are definite differences in something like this and a low-end gown.... mainly in the layers and construction. Most of the wedding gowns I tried on(even less expensive ones) sucked me in a bit better because the lining was thicker and stronger which made it seem more corset-like in my opinion even though it didn''t actually lace up... if that makes any sense. Also, there are usually more layers of lining or petticoat underneath and the fabric is usually nicer. That all being said, I found a gorgeous bridesmaid dress by Watters that I loved more than any bridal gown I tried on. I would recommend them if you are wanting a nice dress on a budget. Mine is real silk dupioni, 2 piece, sweatheart neckline and fully lined but I think I''ll wear Spanx underneath because I think the bottom might be a little see-through in the sunlight. It''s a gorgeous dress, well made, and a natural fiber which I really loved.... and the dress was only around 200 so I think thats pretty comparable to Windsor. You should definitely check them out!

Thanks! I''ll keep your suggestions in mind

My clothes usually come from Ross, so I obviously know nothing about quality

. It will be interesting to see if I can tell, once I''m at the salon.

and often worry that the gowns I like wont be available when the time comes. (Which I think still wont be for a while)

Id like to know how long styles are available because they come up with new lines every spring/fall.

Oh, I worried the exact same thing when I tried this one on! I asked the store lady how long it will be around for, and she told me "until it sells"...I know I''m being crazy though. I''m sure I''ll find something within my budget when my time comes.
