Dress Poll!

I made a list of dresses I want to try on after reconsidering the mood of my event and the tone I want to go for. Just wondering how many it took before you ladies found 'the one'.

There was recently a thread about this, so I'll just repost here what I posted there:

Hmmm...let me think.

I first looked in Chicago - went to Macy's where I probably tried on 10 dresses, then House of Brides, where I tried another 10 (a few duplicates). Then in Texas I went to Stardust, where I tried on another 10 (including the one I chose), then Lulu's (10) and Bliss (10, some of which I had already tried). This past weekend I was in DC where I went to Ann's Boutique (probably 10 with several duplicates) and Hannalore's (10, all new).

I probably could have stopped after Stardust, but I wanted to compare two dresses found at different stores (which is why I went to Bliss). I only went shopping in DC because my friends would have hurt me if I didn't do the whole dress shopping thing with them, but in the end it turned into merely confirming what I already thought.

So all together...maybe 50 dresses? Of those I probably only seriously considered around 6 or 7 throughout the whole process.

I tried on at least 50!! But I am super indecisive. I knew when I put mine on it was the one, but still triedd on 25 more just to be sure!

Zero. I ordered it off the internet. Didn't try it on until it arrived. Then I had to lose twenty pounds before it fit. Fun times.

I accidentally submitted "10-12" above but I forgot a couple of appointments I made in New York that I went on to get a sense for what high end U.S. brands I wasn't going to find in Europe would look like on me. So overall I must have tried on about 20 dresses or so. I really enjoyed dress shopping. I liked a lot of dresses.

I tried on 4 before I found the one I ultimately purchased. When I put it on, I felt pretty sure, but not totally sure, so I tried on another 8 or so after that. I slept on it, woke up knowing that was the dress, and bought it the next day.

With that said, I already had compiled a list of about 20 dresses in the styles I liked, and that dress was on the list. So I suppose I had done a fair amount of thinking/brainstorming/narrowing down before I ever stepped foot in a bridal shop.

I wish there was an option for 0. I found my dress online and when I went to the bridal store they didn't have it. So I ordered it sight unseen. No regrets.

I must be asleep still...I can't vote! I think I tried on about 15 before finding mine, then tried on 15-20 more before making the final decision. I went three different times to try on dresses. I cried every single time I tried on the dress that I finally bought. I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day!

somewhere between 40 and 50 i think....but i have trouble making decisions. i bought the second one i ever tried on i think.

The dress I ended up realizing was "the one" was the second one I tried on at my first store. But I didn't buy it then. You see, I was just there to try on dresses of all shapes and styles (14 total) because I was going to the Running of the Brides and wanted to know what kind of dresses to grab. Then there was ROTB (5 or 6 dresses), second salon (8 dresses), back to the first salon (10 dresses, 3 repeats, including "the" dress), third salon (6 dresses), and fourth salon (another 6 dresses). Sooooo...around 40 dresses, a few more than once, all to end up purchasing the second dress I tried on.

Awww...I feel so loved! I've just been busy busy busy lately and hardly have time for PS anymore, so I've been keeping my jaunts mainly to the CS board. Perhaps I'll try to stick around BWW more...

Thank you for all of the replies! I just got my dress today:

and I went through about 20-22 dresses (with repeats) and 4 bridal shops in the process! I tried on 4-5 dresses after I found my dress, but kept
coming back to it

ETA: I ended up getting the 16th dress I tried on.

I tried on about 100 dresses before I decided which one I would choose.

It wasn't because I was indecisive, I just wanted to make sure that nothing was going to top anything else I had seen. With that being said, the dress I chose was in the 4th bridal shop I went to and was the 35th dress I tried on.

Yes but you rocked that dress and looked gorgeous, so it all worked out!

I tried on something like 50 dresses. I just wanted to make sure I really, really loved what I ultimately picked. I totally would've ordered one sight-unseen, though, if I could have afforded this gorgeous Marchesa dress I saw online . . .

Mashira, I think you made a great choice! You are going to look fabulous in that dress!

The dress I fell in love with, was the 3rd one I tried on...

However, I spent the next 2 days driving to EVERY dress store in the tri city area, making sure there weren't any that I like more. Probably ended up trying on over 50 dresses.
