I''m continuing with another picture.

Sometimes I feel my ring sits too high. Does anywone think it looks funny? I''m just wondering if the high look comes from not having an eternity band next to it.

Any thoughts out there?

Thanks!

Was the ring made on order ?

I think you are right to say that those baguettes are too long. I would expect this to happen if the ring was sized down allot. Otherwise, no idea. The price of baguettes depends on their length, so there was precisely no logic to use some that are too long of all things. Given the size of the diamond relative to your finger, I would think more of step cut traps than baguettes.

An eternity band that would fit the height of this ring may get quite substatial. This is not wrong at all, of course, if you can cope with wearing a thick ring. No idea how to decide that unless you try. Would this work for you? I am sure your existing ring will get full cooperation among potential eternity band suppliers

I think you're right in thinking the baguettes are a little long and they seem to draw the eye away from your fantastic centre stone. Although I really like the double prongs!

Have you thought about re-making the ring as a solitaire with either a prong set or bead set diamond band to match a future eternity wedding ring? I'm sure aNa could work her magic with photoshop to give you an idea of what that would look like?

Hey Jo. Are you looking to redesign the ering? Do you want to keep a baguette look?
What setting do you like? Can you take it back to the original jeweler and tell him/her your concerns?

Well, it seems the height of the ring is due to accomodating the size of the center stone. There are settings (like Vatche makes) that tend to sit as low as possible on the finger. I have a Vatche Royal Crown and my stone is a 2.40. I have had a number of jewelers compliment how low the stone is on my finger for the size of the stone. So even if you go the custom route, you can ask the designer to make the head so that the stone can sit as low as possible.

Hey Sparklies, is there a link to your ring?
I'ld love to see it.

Hi, Jo. First of all, your ring/stone is gorgeous.

Congrats on your recenr nuptials as well.

What size finger do you have? a 4? I continue to be amazed at how finger size affects the appearance os size for a diamond. Your finger looks very tiny and I tend to agree with the others who suggest going with a solitair for that great stone...such a tiny finger can just about handle that honker on its own!

How about going with a simple solitaire and perhaps a delicate diamond eternity band? Eternity bands curve around the finger to you won't have anything "pushing" too much on the sides. or, you could go with a 7 or nine stone "1/2 eternity" and have the designer curve the band for the same affect. At first glance, i can picture an elegant solitaire with a beautiful diamond band underneath it. How high you want the solitaire is up to you...a low stuller in platinum is nice.

even if you do nothing, it is gorgeous...we're "fine tuning" here according to your tastes...this is a winner already.

Personally, I don't think it sits too high--for the type of setting you've chosen. When you have side baguettes the settings tend to look more cathedral, raising up your center stone. Oh, and I tend to disagree with everyone that the baguettes are too long (I like them to stretch across the finger rather than leave a lot of space on the side). I think your ring would look better with a diamond band next to it (or a thicker plain wedding band) because it would hide a little of the height. However, I think your ring looks great as is!

Here's one example.

Hi Nan-
I don't have a pic that I can post. I know, I know... its a terrible thing to refer to a ring around here and not have a dang pic!

But I was just trying to give Jo some ideas.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their opinions and advice. It's great to tune into this site and be able to chat with like-minded (as in we like bling) folks.

To MMM, Luv and Jennifer -
The center stone is 2.75 ct, H, SI1 with some fluorescence. After looking at a bunch of stones I fell in love. The GIA cert is locked away (after a year) so I don't have the numbers, but I had it checked out and it's a perfect cut. I have incredibly long fingers and for that reason went for a larger stone. The H color is balanced out by the fluorescence. It has one inclusion seen with a 10x loupe. I think the SI1 grade was harsh. My husband saved a little $$ by going down on color and clarity, we're trying to buy some rental property. But the cut's great - the stone sings! The stone has at times thrown off so much light when I'm driving, I have to look away. I get a kick out of it.

My ring size is 5 1/2. And as I said ealier my fingers are extremely long. I could probably get away with an eternity band or wider wedding band.

To Sevens one -
The knife edge solitaire combined with the eternity band is beautiful. Is it from Tiffany?

To everyone else -
Thanks again for all of you help. I certainly have lot's of food for thought.

I'm just putting your pics in one thread.
Yes that's a tiffany design

here's the other

Oh god sevens, don't post that first one (from tiffanys?) or I'll just drop dead right here at my desk. I've been going a little nuts looking at all kind of funky antique settings...but you know what....that's what I want. Thanks girl!

WOW! THAT is a stunning ring! I actually love it how it is. YOu have the same hands as me (my hand twin!) and now I can see what a stone that size would look like...I wonder how much Ill have to beg for one.

Actually if I go that big that thing will be ruined within about 3 days. haha!

I agree with an eternity band and I think you could stay with what you have but if you don't LIKE it then don't take my advice. The one thing I did think that when you hold your hand up like these last two photos those bags do look long. Otherwise it doesn't seem they do.

I think an eternity band stacked with a solitair e and a plain wedding b and would be really nice

MMM-That's Tiffany's.
Hey if you switch center stones-whatcha gonna do with that eternity ring???

Actually, I don't think your e-ring sits too high, I just think your wedding band sits too low. I believe if you got a higher sitting wedding band, it will do wonders for the overall look! Just my .02

I also agree that it does not sit too high. I think it's just right. It needs to be that high to support that big beautiful diamond!

I like the look of the baguettes and think that you have a beautiful, classic ring. But I agree that the baguettes are too long for your finger.

If you go with a solitaire, I like the idea of small diamonds on the band, like Jennifer's new ring.
