Hey everyone,

I wanted to get your opinion on this. Our wedding is Oct 21st. Our entire wedding party is from out of town- across the U.S. actually. I was thinking of sending each of my Maids an American express gift card for like $100 to use towards wedding expenses such as travel, dress or hotel. I would still get them a gift at the wedding but it would be a little smaller. What do you all think? I know how expensive weddings can be to attend let alone be in so, I wanted to ease their stress a little. It is important to me that they are there and have a good time. I only have 2 bridesmaids and 1 MOH so, It wouldn''t be too bad.
Do you think I should do this or use the money towards a more expensive attendants gift? Thanks for your help I love this site!

ps. Sorry, about the spellling, I don''t see a spell check button here

Sounds like a really nice idea! The only thing is.. I think those American Express GiftCards are kind of a pain, because they will get declined if you don''t know the exact amount on them.. meaning basically, you never use the full amount.. Is there some other way you could send them the money? I am trying to think of a way that would be nicer than just sending a check..

I think it''s a great idea!!

I absolutely love your sentiment and think that''s a great way to go - I think they would appreciate that more than a more extravagant gift later. I do have to add though, that I got a Visa check card from my sister...what a freaking PAIN to use...like MS said, if there''s a weird balance (ie. $43.56 or something, they have to use that exactly. If they don''t type in the exact amount, ie. try to use it for $45 or something and just pay the difference in cash) the card gets frozen and they can''t even use it for 3 days till the funds get re-released. What a freaking mess! So....a check seems less sweet - but it''s much easier to use!!!!

Great idea but they are a pain. My mom gave me travelers checks that are special gift checks. (if that makes sense) You use them like regular travelers checks but the receiver does the double signature thing. They worked GREAT. I think she got them at her bank.

I am so glad you said something. I had no idea the cards were a pain. -good to know. I like the travlers gift check idea. It seems pretty easy to use.
Thanks everyone.

Ingognito,
Your gift idea is REALLY thoughtful!
