EGL-USA certified rubies

Hello everyone,

An antique ruby and diamond ring I was looking at was recently re-listed after being sent off to EGL to be assessed. The report came back as 'no evidence of heat treatment is present'. The re-listed price is now $2245 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144396385349?hash=item219eb1fc45:g:hvMAAOSwlARf7zX3). The report is located in the last photo and I believe only one out of two rubies were assessed.

In your opinion, is the current price reasonable?

1.4k was probably the “right” price.

These are very opaque cabs, not worth much. Their unheated status does not warrant such a price increase, in my opinion

I’m with @VividRed

Even though I always value non treated over treated, if you add looks into the equation, the updated price is ridiculous for me. The first price looked right for unheated & certified… for possibly heated and not certified it was a bit steep!

(Oh God I’m stuck on bold now. ETA I’m ignoring the old mine cut diamond when I say the above).

I was waiting for it to get re-listed and was ready to pull the trigger on the original price if the report checked out (plus maybe the extra ~$100 cost for getting it certified), when it came back on and I saw the new price!

You did well to come here and check. You probably felt it was a steep increase and I would have felt the same
