Elle's Gemstone Adventures

Gorgeous collection! By the way, one might say you have a thing for ovals. ;)

What gave you that idea? I love elongated stones. My absolute favorite is an elongated cushion cut but those aren't as easy to come by.

Stunning collection!!! One might say you have a thing for saturated stones!

What's next on your list of naughty things?

Wow!!!! Your collection of stones is impressive and those rings are TDF! I wondered who's mahenge spinel ring that was - what a beautiful setting for a killer stone!

Queen for a day.
I wouldn't mind wearing a crown like that. :mrgreen2:

Very true.:lol-2: Though, some might say the same about you. Gosh, I don't know. There's so many on my list. I think I have to let my bank account catch back up first. ;(

Thank you! I'm very excited about this one. It was a total splurge because I wasn't expecting it at all (the spinel popped up on LT so I had to jump on it). You should have seen me asking my hubby if I could spend another $$$, after I had just signed on for a new ring from David Klass. His poor face. :eek-2::lol: Thank God that man loves me. :kiss2:

Aw, thank you! :mrgreen2:

Wow! What a beautiful collection! They are all gorgeous strong colors and lovely settings. I hope your DH is enjoying the beauty too. What great choices!

I just picked up this Nigerian spessartite, from @amyek on LT. The stone was originally purchased from Jeff Davies. It's precision cut and eye clean. It's also a large 3.79ct (9mm). The color is straight up orange. I plan on having it reset with a halo at some point but I have to build the piggy bank back up first.:lol-2:

Ps. @amyek has been selling some of her gorgeous collection so, if you haven't already taken a look, you absolutely should. :D

This one is definitely moody. It shows much better IRL than in these pics.

I am so happy you love it. It was a pleasure working with you.

What a beautiful orange!!! Great find elle!!

Is it possible to change the setting so it fits your ring finger? It would be nice to wear it until you can reset it.

That is beautiful! I was eyeing her spess ring!

I want to halo it in the future but I may resize it for now so it fits my ring finger. I'm a little nervous though because I am hard on my rings and have a tendency to knock into things. :-o I'd hate to damage it. :???:

Thank you. It is quite lovely in person. I'm not sure the orange works on my hand but a diamond halo can fix that. :P2

Here's my new Nigerian rubellite tourmaline, from Gene at Precision Gem. He did an awesome job with cutting (no surprise there). It's a 2.02ct cushion cut (7.67mm) with eye visible inclusions. Some of you know I've been after a rubellite for a while. This one has a gorgeous color. It shows pretty strong red with purple undertones (I think, because explaining color correctly is not my thing :confused2:). It looks beautiful outside and turns a straight up red under indoor lights.

I took my new rubellite and Big Blue with me to work today. I wanted to see how they preformed under office lighting. Gosh, I just love this tourmaline. :kiss2:

:love:Gorgeous rubellite!!! I like & I love?
What are your setting plans for this beauty?

Always great to see pics of big blue. Hope you can set that beauty soon as well.

I think it's time for some group pics:razz:

Love that design!!! Is it by David Klass?

I don't think so (but he would be the one making it for me). :lol-2:
I actually found it on Pinterest! :D It's very pretty though and I think the rubellite would look great in that kind of setting.

:appl:Ooooh! That is a gorgeous setting! You have such an eye for color. I love all your choices! That rubellite looks great on you! Enjoy!!!

I love the kite setting. It'd make a yummy pendant too.
Gorgeous stones and setting choice all round, Elle!

I can see why you love it! Is it from Afghanistan?

Right?! I've been wanting to use that style forever. Hopefully it works out (Lord knows I change my mind as often as the wind blows).

@Burmesedaze It would make a lovely pendant. I didn't even think of that. :lol-2:

I've got a new addition to share. Here is my new pink mahenge spinel from GranGem on Etsy. Mike at GranGem was a pleasure to do business with. He answered all my questions, provided a video, and even extended the return window when I explained I had nothing but rain for a week. I will not hesitate to buy from him again. :D

It's a gorgeous hot pink that looks amazing indoors and out. It has a touch of silk that gives it a bit of a glow.

So here are the stats:
Weight: 2.06ct
Measurements: 7.4 x 6.8 x 5.7
Color: pink

I also have this Montana sapphire from Earth's Treasury. I actually posted this one to a thread for someone who was looking for a teal sapphire. It has eye visible inclusions but it also had a great price for its size. The other person didn't end up buying it so I just had to order it to see it in person.

Here's the link for the gem.

I haven't decided if this one is for me. It's a little darker than I was expecting. I do like the blue green color though. Obviously, it gets more grey inside. Under one light, it is a dark grey and under another it turns into a pretty steel blue (kind of a dusty blue color).
