Elle's Gemstone Adventures

We have frost all over this morning. I love the way frost looks on the leaves and grass (even though I hate the cold that comes with it).:confused2: It seemed like the perfect opportunity for a ring pic. :mrgreen2:

Very nice! Frost is gorgeous on autumn leaves. Your ring looks right st home.

So I'm visiting with this guy. It's a larger paraiba from Yvonne Raley. I'm trying to decide if this is a keeper for me. It's a little more blue than I prefer and the table is quite large but it is a beautiful piece and it's quite large for its price tag. :D You all know I have a weakness for paraiba's so I need your expert advice. Oh, the colors are a little less saturated (I hope that's the right term) than they show in real life.

As Yvonne wrote in her listing:
"This piece is very glowy but also a little more included. This piece has some lighter color bubbles under the table that affect the coloring in that area. This slashed the price for this size and quality in half, so you get a larger piece for the price of a smaller one."

So here are the specs:

Shape: oval shape
Size: 9.65 x 7.59 x 4.58mm
Weight: 2.13 cts
Origin: Paraiba mines, Brazil
Treatment: heated
Color: Neon turquoise
Price of gem: $2130

Here are Yvonne's pics.

And some that I took (ok, I took like a million but whatevs). :lol-2: They are in all different types of lighting (indoors and out).

I would not keep this. The inclusion
Is too much making it look opaque. I prefer crystal clear sparkling gemstone. I usually do not like the silk in the stone

I would keep it! It seems to have a beautiful silky glow. I love the shape, size, the colour and the glow. And if the price is right...

I sent back a non heated non treated Brazilian paraiba that was a top colour because the window and dead area in the centre of it drove me nuts, it was sold to someone else. It's one of those things I still regret, so I guess only you know if you really love the stone enough that you can live with the flaws or not.....

Did you decide yet @elle_71125?
I saw that and thought it was a beauty but my passion lies with green so I didn't look into it.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I decided to send the paraiba back. I'm lucky enough that I already have a couple (though not as large as this one) so I'm comfortable being a bit more particular. In the end, this paraiba was just a bit too blue for my personal tastes.

If you have any interest in it, you should send Yvonne an email.

Took some pics of my new David Klass tourmaline ring (aka Big Blue). Big blue is more pastel than these pictures show (but it just loves the camera so what can I do?). :P2 As usual, David and his team did an awesome job bringing my idea to life. The flower halo is just so pretty to look at IMO. Also, Jeff Whites cutting really stands out because this baby truly sparkles.

ETA: That's right. Those are indeed jelly beans...in November! Dont judge me for my poor eating habits.

Really pretty pictures you got!
Was there a revision between the cast and the last CAD you posted? I'm just curious on the angle of the petals - learning curve of reading CADs....
I'd like to call dibs on this if you ever decide to part with it - but something tells me that won't happen!
In other words - would you mind if I someday use this as a strong inspiration?

There was one revision in between the last CADs and the final product. The petals were tilted down .5mm more than the last CAD shows. (I tried tilting 1mm extra and the petals lost their shape and just became full out round from the top, which was no the look I was going for).

Dibs noted (and you never know because the turnover rate on jewelry here on PS is awfully fast...and the urge to set something new is always strong). ;)2

I don't have any problems with you using this design in the future. I'm flattered. :kiss2:

Your ring is darling and that stone absolutely yummy! :appl:

Whoa! That Jeff White tourmaline ring is something else! I love the details. Such a beautiful creation (and I love your photos :)))

My awesome hubby got me this necklace, from Yvonne Raley, for Christmas. It's so delicate but the colors really pop. The middle is a tsavorite, then demantoids followed by mint garnets. I believe the tsav is 3mm and the rest are 2mm.

Perfect for your skin tone.

GREAT collection! I love the shots of the loose stones on the back of your hand.
Congrats on the new green bar necklace. Great colors and style. :D

Beautiful necklace! That’s a nice and thoughtful Christmas gift from your husband.

Gorgeous!! I love it :kiss2:!! What a great husband!

How pretty! Interesting range of sparkly greens! It must be fun to compare them as gems. Your necklace looks beautiful on you, Elle!!

Gorgeous greens @elle_71125 !!!
The colours really pop on your skin

So I picked up this cheap 60x jewelry magnifier off Amazon and tried it out on my tsavorite from Precision Gem. It's neat to see the needles close up.:lol-2:

Here's Gene's pic

I'm amazed you managed to take a photo of that!

That is a rock of beauty!!! Stats please!

It's a 1.14ct cushion cut. Just under 6mm (exact measurements on pg 4 of this thread).

That you. It was a challenge for sure. I had to set my phone on a timer (and lay it over the edge of a table) so I could use both hands (one for the tsav and one for the magnifier). :eek2::lol:

How are you enjoying your white diamond? Are you wearing it?
