If you were going to elope, into the woods, on a camping trip with only your best friend as officiant and no other invitees, would you have a photographer? Bringing other friends is not part of the equation and the photog would only be there less than an hour. Maybe an art student?

P.S. I did recently post about grad school and getting married and the really astute ladies here gave me somethings to mull over. As a result FI and I had a discussion that cemented our desire to get married and enjoy each others lives no matter where they take us. And last night we came up our elopement plans.
P.P.S. I think my morning caffeination has not kicked in properly to have better spelling and grammar.

I probably wouldn''t have a photographer if those were my plans. It seems like the whole point is privacy, so I''d probably come back and do the pics at a later time.

It''s completely up to you (obviously). I plan to have a low-key, small wedding and a photographer is one of the most important parts for me. I want my special day to be documented by photographs whether I have 2, 10, or 200 people sharing it with me.

Ditto BeachRunner. Hubs and I eloped with only my bff and her fi there as photogs and our officiant. We really wanted to be ALONE, but our desire for pics overruled our desire for complete privacy. We didnt even notice they were there. I have to say, I look at our pics all the time.Taking formal shots later is a great idea, but I think its nice to have the pictures of the ceremony as well. But Im a big ol mushball.

Well, when I eloped my witness took pics for us. That way we only had to have 1 "outside" person, total. And actually, she took them during the ceremony and a few after. I would say we got 10-15 REALLY good pics that I would frame, or give to parents, etc. I don''t think we need any more than that. I was really glad that we didn''t have anyone that we did not know/want there, and it seems like you feel that way, too. Although, we are having a small vow renewal/brunch for family and we will have a photog there. I care more about group pics in that instance.

We eloped and had a pro photographer. Your elopement sounds like it will be lovely. I think having a photographer is a great idea.

Triditto, I would love to have pics of the real moment, you are not going to even realize that the photographer is there.

I love the new lingo - Triditto :D
We do want private, and though I''m not a huge mushball (just a tiny one, deep down inside) I really would like some pics of us on our day and during the ceremony.

Do you guys think an aspiring art student/photographer would be a good way to go? Someone who could put it on CD and we could have professional prints developed from that?

I think that sounds like a great idea! That way they are pro (w/out a crazy price
