Okay, I know this has to be strange - I LOVE my ring but we went to a concert the other night, and I don''t know what was up with the lights, but my ring was BLAZING! To the point that I was kinda trying to hide it. I turned to my husband and said, "Have you noticed my", he cut me off, "Yes" he said. It was amazing. I wanted to just sit in the lobby and gaze at my ring. Later I was talking to someone and I noticed their eyes follow my hand as I was talking - so I put them in my pockets. Does anyone else feel this way? Maybe I won''t notice it after I''ve had the ring for awhile.

Oh just enjoy it!

Screw guilt!

I would love to say I had that issue, sorry - hasn''t happened.

I''m with Kenny, enjoy it!!!

I wish I knew what kind of lighting that was - it sounds really fun. I would be happy to see that!

Yep, some lighting just does amazing things. I've had my ring 6 months and I still notice it.

And woman, shame on you, don't be putting that hand in your pocket again!

My fiancee does that with her ring too...

I''ve done that too. But not often. Just enjoy your ring and don''t be embarrassed by the sparkle!

Some places just have such marvelous lighting! But no, I never get embarrassed!

have you been to home depot yet?

haha i LOVE LOVE LOVE when my ring is blinging all over. there's this church downtown that Greg sometimes plays symphony concerts in and it has the best lighting ever for jewelry. i just bliss out to the sound of the music and my sparkling ring for the whole concert. it is like there are thousands of tiny rainbows inside of the stone, and scintillation all over, it's just really visually overwhelming. esp since i have eternity rings so it's got the big stone then all these little attendants going on too. i've seen my rings bling out in a lot of places in a wonderful way but this particular church is like the most amazing place EVER. i love it. and i don't feel embarassed, i'm too mesmerized!!!

This happened to me last night! I was at an outdoor bar and it was dark and the lighting made my ring go crazy! A couple of the girls with us kept looking at my hand and told me my ring was "so shiny." I just remarked that I clean my rings frequently. I say enjoy it rather than putting your hands in your pockets, that''s why we love our diamonds.

If my ring is clean I do notice that it looks great in certain light...enjoy it!!!

Kenny -

that''s what my neighbor says. "You can afford it, enjoy it." I guess I feel guilty that I enjoy it SOOO much!!

movie zombie - I love your ring. What is a "spess"?

ladykemma - okay, now I HAVE to go to Home Depot!

Mara - I am also mesmerized. It''s a wonder I haven''t hurt anyone with my shopping cart at the grocery store! - I''m constantly sneaking peaks at my ring. It''s amazing there too.

I''m thrilled with my ring and happy my husband thought of it as an anniv gift - I just had not anticipated the attention it would get!

Now they have fantastic lighting!!

There was a thread in hangout about people feeling embarrassed about their e-rings that might be interesting you to read.

Airplanes also have awesome lighting.

Haha! On my way home today from shopping I was looking at my diamond in the sunlight and wondered how many PS people had had fender benders because of staring at their diamonds while driving!

But as most people know on here, I am having to adjust to having a larger, more brilliant diamond than I had before, and I do consciously put my hand out of view at times. But thankfully, I am adjusting to the size!!!

Any store that has the high fluorescent lighting can make your ring dance. Home Depot is good, but I''ve found better. A couple are grocery stores and a place called Value City. The first time I walked in the latter, I went to get a cart and caught a glimpse of my ring. I literally laughed out loud, it was INSANE. People probably thought I was.

"Embarrassed by the sparkle"??! Ohmyword, NO!

I spent hundreds of hours learning about diamonds and carefully choosing my stone and went to great pains to ENSURE "sparkle"!

Ha- I was thinking this very thing on the way home today....mesmerized by the reflection of my ring in the window as I drove.

I'd be more embarrassed if my diamond didn't sparkle!!!!

To be honest...I understand where you are coming from. I 100% believe it depends on where you are, what location, type of people ect.

I have lived everywhere from Menlo Park, CA...Brentwood, CA...Laguna Beach, CA.....to places such as Harlem (NYC) and West Philly. Depending on where I am, my feelings change...

Oh, I would definitely NOT be embarrassed about wearing my new 3.02 carat F VS2 diamond
36.gif
, which is my DH's 10th wedding anniversary present to me. I am very proud of it, since DH, though he has worked hard for his money, loves me and gave it to me since he knows it makes me happy. And I've chosen the stone, especially based on how sparkling it is. I am totally mesmerized by its sparkle, especially in places like restaurants and certain shop lightlings, and just cannot stop looking at it. And what's more, I am so happy when other people notice it and comment on how beautiful my diamond is.

So what I'd say to you is enjoy it and don't be in the least bit embarrased by it. Your DH has given it to you out of love, so you should be very proud to wear it.

The only thing though, certain places are just not safe for sparkling diamonds, in which case I just wouln't wear my ring at all. Where and when I can, I totally make the best out of it. And so should you. Nothing to feel embarrassed or guilty about. I think most, if not all,
36.gif
of the PS'ers here are very happy to wear our diamonds and to show them off.

okay this I can relate to, totally.... we''re planning on moving back to CA in a couple years and i don''t anticipate feeling awkward (awkward is such an awkward word!!) in california, but here in oregon it''s gonna be a bit flashy for sure....
