This is a spinel I bought at a recent gem show in Spruce Pine N.C.

It is a medium tone very saturated slightly purplish red with very good cutting. The size is 6.7 x7.5 mm The stone is eye clean all most loupe clean. The picture does not go this spinel justice at all!!

That is one beautiful stone!!!!!!! How are you going to have it set????????

Linda

Thank you Linda.

I really had not begun to think about setting until you asked. I guess a simple plat. setting with a fat tapered baguette on each side would look pretty sweet. Other than that, any ideas.

You get a 10/10 on that beauty!

Wow, that''s one gorgeous stone.

Wow, your spinel is divine. I recently tired on an emerald ring set like you descirbed with the tapered baguettes and it looked really great. I liked it a lot. I think your spinel would look great in that setting. I''ll be anxious to see your finished jewelry.

Wow! An emerald-cut spinel with such glorious color... I cannot wait to see it set -- I''m sure it''ll look absolutely fantastic!

Thank you, naderon,SanDiegoLady,FireGoddess, marcyc, singingbell,Gem Lover,Linda W and of course movie zombie.

I feel very lucky to have found this stone in an emerald shape with such cutting and color.

I''ll most likely have to think awhile before I decide on a ring design for this spinel but I promise to post pictures when the time comes!!!

Doug

Colormyworld, that''s a beautiful spinel! It deserves to be set with diamonds in a ring so get it set quickly!

I just LOVE the cut on this stone. Yes I know color comes first but the cut is just FAB!

I wish I had an expert to take to gem shows with me. I''m afraid I''d come home with glass.

Doug, what kind of gem show was it? I am in NC and would love to know a good one to go to! I am in the western half of the state.

ETA: I saw you answered my question about the gem show on the other thread. Thanks a lot! Your spinel is gorgeous and would be something I'd love to find!

Ooooooooooooooohhhh I ADORE that beauty. Mmmm. SO beautiful. I too am CLEARLY going to have to attend a gem show soon.

Gosh that is a BEAUTY! Where is that thread about gem shows? I want to find one in my area! It must be great to see a bunch of gems all together and i am sure you picked the nicest one there!

HI:

WOOOOWWWWW....delish!

cheers--Sharon

As with any gem purchase caution is always something a wise thing. Bulk diffusion sapphires are around in plenty.

Also be careful of mis-identifed stones. I once bought what I was told to be a spessartite garnet and it turned out to be a hessonite. The price was cheap and the cutting is nice so I kept it but I learned a valuable lesson.

WOW, what an absolutely gorgeous stone! The color and cut are amazing!

Wowzers! I love the color; I almost missed this! Thanks for posting a pic of that beauty!!!

Your collection makes me green!
