Wondering if this is even worth trying to steal? I would be able to view it in person prior.....but I also know auctions usually contain really poor items. I know emeralds are hard to capture the glow... Would love to know thoughts and max you might pay for such?

Emeralds are hard to buy. You definitely need to see it in person. That’s a decent size emerald as well.
it is an absolutely fabulous ring, the mount itself, as preloved, would be worth $6,000 plus easy. As for the emerald, $8,000 plus also.
this is a ring that can’t be resized so keep that in mind.
I imagine that $12,000 is the reserve, that’s usually how it works with auctions.
Don’t forget the buyers premium of 23%.
$12,000 would still be a good price. A great price would be $10,000 or under!
For $12,000 plus you need to really love the ring in my opinion. If I had the $$$$$, I’d probably bid to $12,000 because buyers premium is another $2,760.

You okay with the haze of inclusion that covers the 1/3 bottom of the emerald? It's well hidden in the auction photographs but it shows very clearly in the AGL memo.

Good point about the buyers premium and I’d never put in an offer without seeing it in person. I’ve seen them sell items not meeting the approximate amount so I don’t know if they would require the reserve to be met. The place isn’t too far out of my normal commute so maybe I’ll arrange a preview - even just to satisfy my curiosity!

I can’t really tell in the memo?

It is unexpected that there is no face-on view of the emerald.

I can't tell if the color is meh or the photo is not representative.

EDIT: On review, most (? all) of their colored stones are very mediocre so I don't think it's the photography.

If anyone is curious, this sold for $11000. I did not view it or make an offer.

I'm curious - why couldn't this ring be resized?
