Emeralds...Show and Tell

My sweet little Gurhan .63 emerald :kiss2:

It’s perfect! I love the simplicity of the setting. Let’s the gorgeous emerald take center stage!

Just wanted to share this...the emeralds look so clean as if they are made of glass.

Many PSers seem to prefer emerald with blue undertone, would you call them with blue undertone?

Yes, that would be a blue undertone (secondary hue). It's gorgeous! If it weren't for the fact that I see Sotheby's in the image, I would have suspected lab emerald, because few natural emeralds are that clean! BTW thanks for sharing this, I adore the emerald-and-emerald 3-stone look. I see emeralds paired with diamonds all the time in 3-stone rings, so this was definitely refreshing! :geek2:

Thanks for explaining. Glad to be able to share. The setting is too much for me. I will rock that step cut (12.85ct) on it's own and create a new project for the pair of side stones (3 ctw)...in my dream!

I find emeralds really intimidating because they are so fragile and complicated compared to other stones. I had to rely on what color I liked, and I like the softness of this one. I’m glad you like it too!

It is 1.41 cts Dimensions: 7.3 x 6.3 x 5.2 . I found it on LoupeTroop from a PSer who had a friend who traveled to Colombia. I have it packed up to go to get papers before I get it set. It’s an oval native cut and very glowy. I can’t decide whether to keep it very simple and let the stone tell its own story, or whether to protect it more with little diamonds. I am leaning toward yellow gold but am not even totally sure about that.

So pretty and cool, do you ever wear it single strand?

@Seaglow Your necklace is absolutely stunning! I love the gentle sea color, and especially the combination with rubies. I prefer this bluish color to the forest green emerald color, although that is pretty too. I'm curious what you wear this with. Do you have a favorite outfit that lets the necklace be the star?

Yes, it can be worn as a single strand but I haven’t worn it yet as I just finished making it. :)

I think it can be worn formal or casual. :) it’s not quite easy to find Colombian emerald beads with good saturation because most Colombian stones are cut in Colombia especially the finer qualities and India are usually the bead makers. Some rough Colombians trickle to India but in commercial to low quality or the small ones for melees. The strand I got has good saturation and good quality for beads because the stones are flattish so they can’t be faceted as big stones. :mrgreen2: However, it you want blue green ones, there are nice Zambian emeralds (though known for duller emeralds, there are actually very nice faceted ones) and much more affordable (India is the emerald cutting center for most if not all sources except Colombian stones).

Everyone’s green babies are soooo beautiful! I just love the glow! Here are mine. Not industry color, but my favorite color. The ring is an antique Victorian I wear as a stacker. The earrings (3.64tctw) and loose (~6ct) stone are muzos.0D3482DF-6FF4-443C-8ADE-EFA58E83E55E.jpeg

Mouthwatering, glowy mintiness! They're lovely! :kiss2:

Realized I haven’t posted mine in here. Colombian emeralds, minor oiling. The one in the ring is about 0.6 ct and the pendant is 1.5 ct.

These are Columbian soured by Yvonne raley and set by David Klass. The largest gems are just shy of 5mm

Very pretty color!

Very eye catching! Nice setting for the emeralds. :geek2:

If you got the emeralds from Yvonne, I wonder why you went with David Klass instead of doing a custom project with Yvonne? I haven't worked with David but saw lots of posts saying it takes a while for him and his team to communicate. On the other hand, Yvonne and her team have been very very responsive. I haven't yet done any projects with Yvonne that required paid CAD work, though.

Thanks @Rad_Fan @peacechick And @voce! Voce, I love working with Yvonne and her service is top notch. I only went with DK because I was resetting my diamond pendant into a bangle at the same time. If I did go with Yvonne I think I would be comfortable without seeing CAD for this design, it was more for convenience on my part this time.
The lead time is a bit longer with DK, but he was upfront about it and I’ve had no issues with communication during the process.
