I wanted to share with all of you that I''m engaged! Needless to say, I''m so excited and happy.
My fiance (finally get to say it!) proposed to me on Saturday evening at a gorgeous park in Seattle. The trip there was actually a surprise. He told me we were going somewhere to celebrate our two-year anniversary, but he wouldn''t tell me where we were going. I found out we were going to Seattle when we got to the airport!
All along I had been thinking that the proposal might happen this weekend, but when we got there, I convinced myself that it wasn''t going to and that I shouldn''t get my hopes up. I was disappointed on some previous occasions, and that awful feeling would just ruin the weekend for me. I therefore decided I was just going to put all (or most) thoughts of engagement out of my head, and to my surprise, I was pretty successful in doing that. Friday night we had a nice dinner, then Saturday we woke up early to do a bunch of Seattle-y activities. After that, we got ready for a late dinner and went to see a few additional sightseeing spots around the city since the sun was out.
At the second spot we went to--one that has very special sentimental value for the two of us--we went out on a little pier together and watched the sun setting and the boats sailing by. I was so mesmerized by the beautiful view that I didn''t even notice him pulling a little box out of his pocket. I turned around, and he was on one knee, asking me to marry him. I said yes about five times and hugged him really tight. He had to ask me if I wanted to let go of him for a second to put on the ring. He slipped it on my finger, and it looked perfect.
We sat on the pier until it was dark and then called our parents to share our happy news. We went out to a fabulous restaurant to celebrate late that night. We returned home last night, and today has been a whirlwind of trying to tell everyone I know.
Without further ado, here is my gorgeous ring: a 2.1 ct E VS1 emerald cut center stone set in a platinum setting with four 15-point round diamonds, two on either side. The band is about 3 mm wide. The ring is currently a size 3.25, which is a little big--it will be sized down to a 2.75 or 3 in the next few weeks. Right now I can''t bear to part with it!
