So, a few of the guys in my office were having a discussion about engagement rings (not sure why) and of course, since we are in the data gathering and anlysis business, they decided to do a web survey of our office...

They just sent out a powerpoint presentation with the results (dorky, yes - and it appears they have too much time on their hands). Here it is...

Thanks Rockzilla! This is very funny. I can''t read the Y-axis labels on the first chart, though. Are they in carats or thousands of dollars? And what was the average expected value for men and women?

That''s great! It''s clear that they''re interested in the topic and that, yes, it is dorky.

Actually, I just described the survey to my FI and he had to come analyze it himself (he''s a data analyst).

Sorry..in order to shrink it down to fit, I think I lost some of the resolution...

The axis is in $...it goes from $0 to $50K..the average line for guys was like $8.7K and for the girls was $6.6...

Interesting though how they grouped the guys on the left hand side as "Not ready to propose" and "Overly sentimental"

I think it might be more accurate to put "Not dating" and "dating someone seriously"

=)

That''s hilarious! How funny that guys are expecting to pay more than women are expecting to receive, I would have guessed the other way around. Or am I reading that wrong? I especially like the equivalent value slide.

Very funny....

I thought it was interesting to see the slide which compared the cost of the ring to ''real life'' men toys. Interesting, becase when us ladies are waiting for a proposal and our intended buys a stick of gum we can tend to think...well he clearly isn''t saving if he is buying ''X''! hahahahha So True!

Men - step away from the computer games, alloys, weekends in Prague with the ''lads'' or anything that isnt milk and bread; cause you don''t need it. Just buy the blooming ring!

Too funny Rockzilla! I can''t believe they had the TIME to put this together - shouldn''t they be out shopping for rings instead??
