Has anyone ever posted an item to be made through Etsy Alchemy? I just made a request and am curious about PS experiences with the process.

I posted once for a double frame clutch wallet. I found a cute one at Target but really wanted one made with real leather. I only had one person respond but she didn''t have the color leather I was looking for so it didn''t work out. I don''t think I know anyone else who has used the service...

I''ve done it several times and have had both good and bad experiences. Sometimes it''s hard to explain exactly what you want, so there''s misunderstanding.

My advice is to find a seller that you really like... look at all their work and see if it''s similar to the style you like. Then, ask them to work on a custom order for you. I did that with my clutch, and I absolutely love it. I liked her style, and I picked everything from the color of the metal to the fabric.

Good luck!

Thank you for sharing oobiecoo and musincy! So far, it''s been an interesting process. I''m glad I checked it out though, and your responses have definitely offered me some guidance. *crossing fingers and hoping my item doesn''t come out too funky in the end!*

I just put out an alchemy request for some gemstone pendants I want to give to my BMs (a sliding bezel pendant). I''ll let you know how it goes! So far I have 4 responses. I''d say that 1 or 2 are really promising. I am waiting for photos of some work to decide.

I had one good and one bad experience Etsy ALchemy experience. The good experience was for a rubber stamp and the other one is for bridal hairpiece.

There were about 15 - 18 bidders for the hairpiece and of which, about 3-4 have potentials base on their past work. Some of them are very vague in their responses and some are very descriptive in what they had envisioned for your request. Some are very pro-active by following up with sketches and etc.

It''s an interesting experience. Unfortunately, my winning bidder went missing on me and refused to respond back to me after a few weeks of empty promises.

Anyhow, hope you have a good experience!
