Love this! Did you send them the stones or have them set by a local?

Two rings, each just under $950. The gems are Burmese heat only rubies (.765 tcw) from Master Cut Gems, purchased last year during one of their fabulous sales. The settings are from Stuller, set by a local jeweler. These will be a birthday gift to my beloved daughters who are turning 20 in July.

Don't have it in hand yet, but delighted to be able to post this ring in this thread. I bought the gems during the February Tucson sale for CRD, and if I calculated correctly, everything came just under $1150.

Dont ask me why (my brain is messed up ) but I feel like this ring would be worn on the RH of the daughter of a Cuban mafioso and the girl would have this super princess-y attitude and her father would have this crazy elaborate story of how the gemstones were bought from the money stolen off of their enemies.
In other words its lovely and fit for a princess! I get this Cuban vibe off of it, Idk why!

Good work getting that spinel ring made for under $1250 @voce!

Close, it's tsavs and a spinel.

I got them because I wanted to put something together that reminded me of a lotus, but I like your story too :P2

:appl:Well my brain must be messed up too because I’m thinking we should have a backstory thread where we can invent backstories for our or others’ colored gem creations. :twirl:

Congrats. Awesome color combo. I haven’t seen one of these rings made. Looks great. Tell us how you like it. I have a CRD gray spinel that fits that setting

Ah, the days when gold was $350/oz, diamond melee was cheap, spinel and tsavorite were not that popular, and paraiba was easy to find at great prices, These were all under $1k. I think the most expensive one was the Mahenge, but because of the relatively large diamonds in the setting. It was $650 total.

From top down
violet spinel
Nigerian bubblegum pink tourmaline
Chrysoberyl
Paraiba
Mahenge spinel
Blue violet spinel (largest stone at 3 carats)
Tsavorite

Sigh. I don’t suppose you wanna sell any? :mrgreen2:

Always an achievement to post an item here. Under $1k as well. New lavender jadeite ring. Color looks different in different lighting.

Wow! That's awesome. I was shocked to see how much gem prices have jumped.

Yes, I am as well. However, being a retailer and being a private seller are world’s apart.

Your rings and stones are gorgeous  and it’s mind boggling that they all make it in to this thread! I wish I would have started collecting back in those days :mrgreen2:.

Thank you! Before I purchased these, my eye for gems was horrible, and I spent way too much on duds. At least you guys have the internet to learn from (I didn’t back then) so you don’t make those early expensive mistakes that I did.

970014B4-081B-46AC-A129-ACF239BB39F7.jpeg I usually don’t wear this cuprian tourmaline very much, but I love the setting. 18k vintage design with bright white sparkly diamond melee. The tourmaline is precision cut from a horrible native cut, but it came with a GIT memo saying it was copper beating. It’s 8mm with a very high crown. It looks more like an aquamarine though than a cuprian. That’s not a window, but a tilt window. It exceptionally well cut.

My latest purchase : chrysoberyl from sedagems and setting from my local jeweller. The bulk of the cost went into the rather elaborate setting. The stone is a bit milky but I like it a lot.
