So, before FF left for abroad for three weeks, he made me get ''Skype'' and I''m so excited about it. Basically, you download the program for free and you can call anyone else with Skype anywhere in teh world for free too, over your computer. If you have a camera, you can see each other too.

Most of my family adn friends live far away across oceans, so now I''m making everyone else get Skype too, and it''s SO GREAT! I just had a chat with a friend I haven''t seen in almost two years and it was so wonderful to actually SEE her and hear her voice. It almost made me cry. Being able to see FF when he calls and be able to virtually eat meals together (ha!) while he''s away is cool too. Of course, I''m having lunch while he''s having dinner, but still.

Anyway, super highly recommended.

Oh I totally second that. Also, MSN has a video messenger function, get yourself a web cam and a headset and you're in business. My BF lived in Sweden for a while (I'm in California) and it was a life saver. No huge phone bills and we could talk pretty much whenever we wanted. It was great, it made him less homesick, and made our relationship much easier.

Skype ROCKS! I travel alot for extended periods and our phone bills used to be crazy, even with once a week only calls. But two trips ago we got Skype and we talked nearly everyday and for as long as we wanted to. It''s fabulous!

I use it daily, i paid the 14.99 for a year of unlimited calls to landlines and use it too call wifey2b for between 10 and 20 hours a week as well as to call others.

I have Skype too.

I have clients from so many different countries, it has been invaluable.

Singapore, China, Australia, Israel, Belgium, UK.

The only thing I don''t like about it, is that if you buying "land line" minutes, you have to make at least one call every so often, or they "expire" and you lose them. Most others have computers, where it is free, so I confess that using the minutes to call land lines, I haven''t used very much.

I used a webcam when FI was in Edmonton for two months last winter... It was great!

I''m trying to get on the ball with this. Everyone I know is using skype to call overseas but I have yet to get with the program!

Wow, sounds cool.

Skype is the best for friends all over. I have even used it with friends...*ashamed*...next door... (I only hate that I get random weirdos saying hello on it though)

But nowadays, many people have MSN or video for their MSN, so it seems that is far more useful when trying to bid happy birthday''s, graduations, look how much she/he has grown conversations, to brand new baby shots from across the world. Kind of great having video capability, but good old fashioned phone and letter writing (not e-mails) makes me warmest...
