For a long time I went on a "magazine diet" to try to curb my constant desire for new, shiny, deliciously decadent (read: costly) items.

But, alas, I've fallen off the wagon. REAL SIMPLE, I love you!!!! Here's my list of current faves ...

REAL SIMPLE (tasty, easy recipies - clean layout - cool finds)
O MAGAZINE (um, Oprah, need I say more?)
MARIE CLAIRE (cool women's issue stories - wearable fashion)
COUNTRY HOME (kitschy fun)
ELLE DECOR (funky fun)
DOMINO (dangerously addictive fun)

And when I'm feeling fancy ...
WORLD OF INTERIORS (UK fun)
DWELL (Mod fun)

When I'm feeling home-maker-y
EVERYDAY WITH RACHAEL RAY (Yummo!)

When I'm in Bridezilla mode
INSTYLE WEDDINGS
TOWN & COUNTRY WEDDINGS
MARTHA STEWART WEDDINGS

When I'm in the check-out line only
PEOPLE

What's on your bathroom reading or "must have" subscription lists?

wow deco you are an insane magazine loving whore!!!

gosh i thought i was bad. guess not!!

my sickness is us weekly big time..and in touch. i get my subs on ebay, they are super cheap!
for workout and stuff i like self and shape. i think i have a sub to one of them.
for gardening and stuff i like sunset and garden design but i dont sub to either anymore.
for girl stuff i love lucky for shopping and marie claire for fun reading and jane for snarky reading.

i only sub to us weekly and self and pick up the rest typically when i travel, then i buy like 5 magazines since i read them really quickly!

i''m really mostly a catalog whore, RH, PB, CB, Ballard etc they are just all over the house and i am always planning on what i am going to buy next...hahaha.

I actually laughed out loud! Not just LOL. Real. Laughter. Out. Loud. Somehow I took it as a compliment???

I've actually been doing a lot of traveling lately and it's one indulgence I allow myself to soothe the hassle of transit!! That's probably why I've gone MAG-CRAZY. I really only have one sub - REAL SIMPLE (and that was a gift one). I would like to sub to DOMINO, O & Marie Claire ... maybe I'll check out Amazon.

Anyone else a crazy Mag Ho' like me???

Ha ha Deco, I was just wondering if there was a magazine thread the other day! I used to be way more into magazines than I am now, especially the Glamour/Cosmopolitan/Vogues. Now that I''m old (28, lol) and married, I get Better Homes and Gardens and Cuisine (or something, it was an "enabler" thing from PS), and I request catalogs like nobody''s business even though I never buy anything, ha ha!

If I buy a magazine at the grocery store, I try to grab something fitness related, like Self, Shape, or Fitness...anything to make up for the bag of Doritos I''m hiding in my cart, hee hee

My husband gets about a thousand magazines, it''s ridiculous. I even "allow" him to keep his subscription to Playboy going...I have to admit, I read the articles, and they are pretty good!!!

~~My Faves:

Weekly: US Weekly
Monthly: Everyday with Rachael Ray (trying to learn how to cook), and Cosmopolitan
Quarterly: InStyle Weddings, Inside Weddings, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Elegant Bride

I used to be a crazy mag ho, but since I've been working full time I've had no chance to read them. My favorites would have to be InStyle, Cosmopolitan and Jane.

Now that I'm going back to school, perhaps I should order a couple subs...........

I''m a mag and catalog Ho, too! DH makes fun of my subs because they run from Cosmo, Lucky and Glamour to Parents and Family Fun! DH thinks I shop too much because every day a stack of catalogs comes in the mail!

hahah deco it was said with the utmost admiration for your magazine loving ways, i can assure you.

greg TRIED to recycle my new catalogs without me ever seeing them by sorting the mail in the garage but i got hip to him when suddenly i realized i was still looking at the fall PB when it was like feb. i said HEY i know i have missed at least 2-3 'early winter, late winter, early early spring'....where are they all going. so now what he has tried to do is put the new ones on top of the inside recycle bin in the kitchen and then tries to say 'oh well you never picked them up from there so i recycled them'...i'm was like DUDE put them where i see them?! no fair. after i threatened to 'recycle' all his old truck mags that ended really quickly and now i am back firmly ensconced in catalog heaven. no money though! hrmph!

Hee hee. If magazines are like booze, catalogs are CRACK! It''s just SO easy to buy, buy, buy! I have to throw them away at the Post Office during "lean" times, to keep myself under control!

However, if home-type catalogs are your thing you would probably love, love love DOMINO (like I do)... it''s the LUCKY for home-goods, with contact #s and ways to order everything in there.

Does this make me a "pusher"??

My hubby always gets the mail first on Saturdays and throws the catalogs in the trash. I have to fish them out. Ughh.

I subscribe to Conde Naste Travel, Cottage Living, Cuisine at Home, Real Simple. And of course there are lots of catalogs.

I LOVE magazines!

I sub to Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, and Conde Nast Traveler.

I travel for biz pretty regularly, and buy most of my mags at the airport- InStyle, Allure, Real Simple, Time & Latina. I go thru them pretty quick, and leave then in the seat pocket for the next traveller.

I have to admit that I''m soooo disappointed in Every Day with Rachel Ray. She''s one of my fave Food Network personalities, but the mag was blah. I hope her syndicated daytime show that premieres this fall is better!

I just bought my first issue of Rachel's mag and I really liked it (the one w/her wedding story.) I think I'll get a sub because I liked the variety of the content.

Now for the rest:
"O" I actually do the little self-improvement exercises
3.gif

Health- one of my favorites
Self
Allure
Weight Watchers
New York

My sister and I do a magazine exchange- she gets Glamour, People and Lucky. Her husband gets Details and some other guy magazine and then we all trade- I think the guy mags are hysterical.

ETA: I forgot In Style- I used to love it, now I think I pass them to my sister after just skimming through it.

I have a subscription to Allure and In Style. Once in a while I will pick up a US Weekly/People?etc. to get the lastest gossip!

Lapidary Journal! Is the only one I pay to get. From Christmas subscriptions I also get the Economist, and Cooking Light. After a great deal of begging my mother finally stopped giving me Allure. Sooo not me.
Although I must admit that there is a growing pile of wedding magazines under the bed!

Us, Jane, In Style, Real Simple

In Style and Traditional Home and Veranda and US and Antiques that I steal from my boss ....gotta love purdy pictures!

Mara! I, too, am a magazine whore!!! I devour them -- they don''t last more than 10 minutes each.

It''s so funny how I can retain and absorb all the info in a magazine in 10 minutes or less. LOL.

I love:

InStyle
Glamour
Cosmo
US Weekly
Marie Claire
Fitness
Allure

They don''t cost very much if you subscribe -- and it''s much cheaper than forking over $4 for an InStyle at the stands!

Subscriptions also make GREAT stocking stuffers. They think of you year-round when they get an awesome magazine every month. =)

Julian that is so true. I''m so bummed when I get my US Weekly and it''s done in 20 minutes of hard poring over it. They need to triple the size of those things or something!

I used to get InStyle as well as a bunch of other mags and I just ended up not having enough time to read them all so I let all the subs lapse then I was like damn where are my mags!! It was a quick downward spiral into catalog heaven after that...

InStyle
US Weekly
People
Life & Style

WHAT a GORGEOUS wedding she had TOO! Oh my word. Italy. Divine! I read the issue at Barnes & Noble (I''m so bad

) but I kinda wish I''d bought it ''cause it was a great spread on that wedding.

I like the MAG SWAP idea too, Fountainfairfax! Sometimes I do a mag swap when visiting my sisters or when a friend comes up on the train from the city .. I''ll keep theirs and send them away with some.

Departures (from American Express)
African Violet
Robb Report
Town & Country

I''m embarassed to list all the mags I subscribe to...
23.gif

Here they are:
InStyle
Redbook
Vogue( All time favorite fashion mag)
Marie Claire
Town & Country
Shop(like this better than Lucky)
Lucky
W
Jezebel (local mag)
Glamour
Bazaar
Veranda
More (The absolutely BEST mag for women 40 and over...all the answers to life after 40...My favorite by far)

I know my mailman must HATE me dragging all these around! I would always find myself loading up the cart in the store checkout and decided subscriptions would at least save a little money!!
