Hi, ladies,

We've decided to use Moleskine cahier notebooks as our favors and to make bookmarks with table numbers and slip them into the cahiers, so they will serve as favors and placecards. We're going to purchase the black cahiers and then use the Gocco to print something on them in white (a design which we haven't figured out yet), and then my mother will calligraphy guests' names on each cahier.

I found some adorable tags on etsy.com. I'd like to attach the tags to the bookmarks and write the table numbers on one side of the tags. I thought it would be nice to use grosgrain ribbon for the bookmarks, but now I'm not sure how to attach the tags to the ribbon. Any ideas?

ETA:
- FI proposed with a bookmark, and books are important to us, so that's why we love this idea.
- The tags are from Digitalpaperie on etsy.com.
- The cahiers are Shoofly's on etsy.com.

Here are some pictures to illustrate what I'm talking about.
Here's are cahiers with light green printed on it:

Here are the tags I''d like to attach to the ribbon bookmark to hang over the edge of the cahier:

Here''s a tan cahier with calligraphy on it. Ours would be black with white calligraphy:

We''ll probably make the tags in this shape, but they''d be on cream paper with black ink:

The first thought that comes to mind is to simply thread the ribbon through the hole in the card and tie it. Is the ribbon narrow enough to fit through the hole? All of your samples are lovely, by the way.

We''d like to use a thicker grosgrain ribbon because it will be working as a bookmark, so it won''t fit through the hole in the tag. Any ideas?

Sew two cute buttons on either side of the bookmark at the top (make a button sandwich with the ribbon), but don''t sew it too tight because you need some space to loop the yarn around in the next step. The next step...just loop the skinny yarn or ribbon that''s attached to the tag around the buttons, wrap it once or twice around the button, tie it tight...and voila! The knot is hidden by the buttons!!

Check the scrapbook stores. You can get holepunches in a variety of shapes, and I suspect they have a lozenge shape that would accomodate your ribbon. Another option would be to glue the tags around the top of some sort of paperclip, which could also be used as a bookmark... or to make more of a pocketbook-sized bookmark in the same motif, with the table number showing from the top of the cahier.

As one who loves stationery of all sorts, I love the idea of giving the little notebooks!
