I saw this Fancy Colored mined Diamond with the following report. What does it mean to have a foreign materially artificially applied to the surface? :confused::confused:

sounds like there is a non-durable coating on the diamond, assuming it is a layer of color.

Wow thanks! This was found under the mined fancy color diamond, I did not realize that it is a color created diamond.

I'll be first to admit I offered you a layman's level guess. I am sure someone else will chime in with further clarification for you. It's good that there are GIA reports!
 
They can color-coat mined diamonds as well, it's not limited to lab diamonds. That's a different process than HPHT.
