I've seen so many diamonds on other people, I'm just not thrilled by the prospect of having an engagement ring that looks like everybody else's. Thankfully I was able to find a ruby ring I love within my DF's budget. It was that ruby ring that got me interested in gemstones and jewelry in the first place. Here is that one in the center of my mini traveling jewelry box, on an overcast day.
The ruby I'm slowly paying off will go into my own ring design, and part of the reason I'm dragging paying it off in full is because I have a bunch of projects with Cecile Raley Designs, setting my paraiba and other stones. I expect to make a thread at the end of this month when CRD has some of my custom projects finished.

Oh my gosh guys!!! I’m so excited! I just purchased this commissioned garnet from Jeff White. I’ve been waiting since December! This is the only picture I have for now & its Jeff’s image. Literally just paid the invoice an hour ago! 4.14 ct, 8.36mm.
Should be my last February purchase.....
She is being sent to Yvonne tomorrow and we'll take the setting process from that point. I can't wait to get this beauty into a ring!

I also just received this 12mm cushion Concave blue topaz from Maureen Webber on Jeff Davies new Facebook auction group. It was just $75 and I thought it would make a great pendant. I love the cut on this one. Please ignore my dry winter hand
It’s called Jeff Davies & Friends Fine Gemstone Auctions. It looks like they started running auctions in October, so it’s not brand new, but new to me
. There are only a few pieces listed this week set to end on Sunday... There has been a larger selection than that the past few weeks though and auctions end pretty low, I think because there aren’t many members in the group yet.
I’m not certain, but I think it might be open to anyone who sends a request to join. Hopefully the more people that join the more gems they will post for auction every week!@2Neezers sounds like fun. After I read this, I asked to join. Maybe it’s supposed to be returning customers.

She’s here and soooo beautiful! Of course I dropped her about 6inches on to the wood dining table, she skittered across, & fell onto the floor! 
Seriously only the second time I’ve dropped a gem like that. I believe she’s ok. All corners appear & feel sharp. I don’t have a loupe or I would go crazy so moving on to pictures! In some light she looks very much like Jeff’s glamour shot! Of course his cutting is perfectly precise!
I try to be so careful now. It looks like everything is ok based on your pics.
That has to be one of the prettiest garnets I've seen.
I don’t know how jewelers do this without losing melees.
I think even jewelers have difficulty sometimes, due to YouTube videos that I've seen where it took them a while to successfully do so.
