I am working on a ring with Elle (from the Gemstone Project). My stone is an emerald-cut emerald (specs and pictures below). The setting is Elle's Obstinée (pictures below).

Her designs are beautiful, and I can tell that she pays great attention to detail.

She has sent me CADs for the ring, and I would be grateful for feedback. The posts I see about CADs are very informative and bring up points that I never would have noticed otherwise. I am concerned that I may be missing something here.

The pictures of the finished ring are from Elle's website (https://thegemstoneproject.com/the-obstinee/). The pictures of the stone are from Yvonne (https://www.etsy.com/shop/yvonneraley).

Thank you in advance for your time!

Stone: Colombian emerald, emerald-cut, 5.43 x 5.06, .64 carats

I really love that ring. I wonder that the shoulder to prong appears to taper on the finished ring. The melee at the bottom look bigger than the top. The CAD does not show that. The CAD shows a single width along the whole shoulder.

I'm terrible with CAD's but I wanted to say I'm super excited for your new ring. It's sure to be a stunner! ;)

I love the cut corner on the emerald and was thinking that it would get "lost" with a single prong on each corner. That is why I prefer double claws on the cut corners, 4 sets of doubles.

I do think the design is very elegant, and will be beautiful if you leave it as is. Just food for thought.

I was thinking about this a bit more and wonder if the 6 prongs will overwhelm the stone you have? What about using 4 double prongs, as suggested by @PintoBean. It would look a bit like TGP's Resistanace from the top or the below HarryWinston.

rockysalamander, many thanks for responding. I was wondering about the same issue - the lack of tapering on the shoulders.

elle_71125, thank you for your enthusiasm! Your avatar is beautiful, and that makes your kindness even more flattering.

PintoBean, I had not thought about the cut corners and prongs. That is a really good point. Many thanks for mentioning it!

Great minds think alike! I'm referring to you and PintoBean :)

I actually went back and forth between the Resistance and this setting, and had that exact Harry Winston ring in my inspiration file! I just couldn't put my finger on which element of those designs I wanted to pull into my setting. You and PintoBean have made it clear. Many, many, thanks for your help!
