With help from you ladies, I decided to go with a classic 3-stone setting for this sapphire.

Here are the pictures of the setting I am considering. Classic 3-stone setting with half-moon side stones, total 1.2ct, VS clarity, I color.

Two questions before I go with it:

1. Will it be too much for right hand? I think it looks like an e ring totally, but I can pretend it is for past, present and future

2. The setting used to house a diamond that was sold, therefore it was offered to me at a good price. Will the multiple-setting process weaken the prongs?

Thanks in advance for all comments!

Yingh I've tried to reply to this thread 4 times and been kicked out each time. Hope 5th time lucky! I adore your setting and think the sapphire will look at home in it. In fact I've been looking for a similar setting but can't find one in my budget - lucky you!

ETA Yeah it worked! In terms of your question about the prongs? Your jeweller can always make new prongs if they have weakened. It wouldn't be a big job.

I love that setting yingh. I agree with LD, your sapphire will look right at home in that setting. I can''t wait to see pictures.

It''s going to be a STUNNER. Love the moon sidestones.

That setting is perfect and classic- it will look amazing on your right hand!

Yingh, I think that setting will be WONDERFUL for your sapphire, I can''t wait to see the ring!

The setting doesn''t look too much for the sapphire. I think it''d be perfect for the shape. The prongs should be fine. Have the jeweller take a look at it just to be sure. The worse case scenario is that they have to be rebuilt but that is pretty inexpensive.

My jeweler charges a fortune to rebuild prongs.

I find PS vendors charge so much less for jewellery work (resizing, setting, rebuilding, etc) that even if I pay for shipping both ways, I still save more by going with them versus a local jeweller.

And I know I am guaranteed impeccable work.

Can you recommend some, as Yingh might be interested as well!

That stone in that setting is going to look awsome.

My jeweller has charged me up to $200 just to set a stone!

I hate it when that happens...

The setting is great - it can totally work as a "cocktail ring"!

Lovely!

Oooo the perfect combo! I think they will look great together :)

I think that setting will be perfect with your stone!!

It will be absolutely gorgeous in that setting! I love the half moons and the claw prongs!! I am sure your jeweler knows if the prongs are too weak and if they need to be redone.

I love the setting you picked and the half moons are just lovely. Your Sapphire is STUNNING!!!

I don''t want to wait either! But work had kept me crazy! I have been doing three-persons job for months and help was promised once my Department''s reorganization can be rolled out. My boss kept telling me to hang on, help is on the way in ''just'' a few weeks.
