A VERY heartfelt congratulations to both of you, Paul and Jen.

I am so excited for you! Can''t wait to see more pictures of this long awaited sparklie!

yay!!! finally!!! congrats to you both! :) i want to see more pictures and pics of you two! :) sounds like it was a happy day afterall!

Congrats! Great to hear the story, especially since we''ve all read the posts from argh&stuff to fishie''s. I have to say though, all that pressure! The poor boy...lol. However, he did great...it is a lovely ring!
36.gif

So Fishie, now that it''s over...if you could do it all over again, think you''d be more patient and less emotional? Maybe you could have gotten the proposal where you thought it may happen if he didn''t know that you were so sure it was going to happen there! (although I doubt you would change anything...well, maybe except the crying...

)

Really happy for the both of you...you seem just perfect for each other and I wish you tons of happiness!

Great story Jen...I can''t wait to see more pictures! Use your macro setting on the camera...that will help ALOT! It''s the tulip looking setting...I had no idea what macro was until Belle clued me in about the tulip on the settings LOL!
What are the specs of the diamond...did you post those somewhere?

It turned out so beautifully Jen! I love it! Paul did an awesome job!!!!!

The diamond is from White Flash, the setting is from Wink. He was very awesome and dropped the tulip down to the base of the band, so it''d not sit up too high, and the diamond is almost flush with the curvy part of the cathedral that raises up toward the diamond. I *LOVE* that part of it.

The diamond''s the one I was hoping he bought *yeah, I know, sneaky me.* It''s a J, .541 carats, and well, I copied the stats, because that''s all I remember. Here they are:

Shape: Round Ideal Cut
Carat: 0.541
Color: J
Clarity: SI1
Depth: 60.9
Table: 57.1
Crown Angle: 34.7
Crown %: 14.9
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion %: 42.9
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick Faceted
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Culet: Pointed
Fluorescence: Negligible
Measurements: 5.25-5.27X3.20

I''ll try to copy and paste pictures of the diamond and Ideal Scope.

Oh yeah, about being less dramatic and hopeful and all that, Travelingal, yeah. I wish I had been. It caused a lot of stress in our relationship, and hurt feelings on either side. I''m sorry for it, but I guess Paul''s positive stance on it is a good one, in retrospect: we got through it, and we''re stronger because of it. Hee hee. The way I figure, we''ll be *really* strong by the time I learn to have more patience.

It won't let me download the picture now. I'll try again later.

Oh yeah, my camera is a Kodak Easy Share. I have the tulip setting (macro) but I'm getting BRIGHT white in every picture I take. Nothing but WHITE and some hint of the ring lost in all that blank whiteness. Most odd. Crazy odd, even.

Oh yeah again. I forgot to say that I didn't give Paul his *engagement ring* until our "picnic" in the living room later that night. I was so grry over the whole lack of proposal that I didn't carry my purse or my camera when we went to the garden.
8.gif

But, he did love it. Made him tear up. We've not gotten it engraved with the date yet, but I think he wants to, so we will soon. He was a little shocked *and relieved* that it wasn't the engagement ring SET I said I'd gotten him. Sweetie of a man, he said he loved me so much he'd wear a ring set for the rest of his life, if I looked at it and thought it was "him." Heehee. I know he musta been sweating it at least a little bit, though.

Then I gave him his letter I wrote in May, when I was so intensely interested in being his wife I was almost nuts. NUTS. He loved that, too. Then he scurried upstairs and brought down the many pages of the progression of him figuring out what to get me that all you sweet people helped him with. Priceless.

Then I ended up falling asleep on the blanket we'd laid out, with pages all over the floor around me. When I woke up, Paul was just sitting there, looking at me, holding the watch in the palm of his hand. Priceless. Again.

How rude of me to write about my sparklie and not about his. He'd be sad.

Oh yay Congrats Fisher!!!
36.gif

I''m very happy for you both and think your ring is just lovely!!! Oh..and the picnic is ADORABLE!! I wanted FI and I to go on a picnic yesterday afternoon as a post engagement celebration on our anniversary, but it was just too dang HOT!
29.gif
An inside picnic is just too cute!!

Roseangel, I *love* picnics. It''s fun and romantic and you can go anywhere and have one, and the prep time is fun, too. I like how Paul wants the oddest combination of foods, and I like how he''ll tediously help with the packing. It''s just so fun to watch his excitement about it.

I also like that''s it''s so much cheaper than going out to eat.
9.gif

Maybe you guys can picnic soon!

WhooooooooHooo gal! Finally, indeed--whew!

congrats, I adore tulip rings. Your story reminds me a little of mine--I had pitched a fit for similar reasons the morning of. But they do manage to make their way special
2.gif

Rainbow trout, that''s exactly what Paul calls it when I get grumpy/emotional "little bita fit pitching" he says. At least he knows it now, right?

I''m seriously getting GRRRY with this whole picture thing. This is what I keep getting, over and over and over and over. It''s like it''s a ghost ring or something:

congratulations! looking forward to handshots.

Congrats!!! That is a lovely ring!

I''m very perplexed as to why you get a pic like that, fisher...
33.gif

Yeah, I''ve pretty much given up. Paul said he''d show me what to do when we''re together next. He feels all smart and astute and stuff because I can''t seem to get it right. Yay for the male ego booster, huh?
9.gif

Great stats Jen...very similar to my diamond. I bet you love all the sparkles you are getting from it huh???

I hope you get the picture thing figured out soon...really want to see some more shots of it. I''m glad Wink was able to make it how you wanted it...he''s really a great guy to work with

Small,

I adore it! The colors it throws makes me SMILE! And the way it looks with the setting is PERFECT. When I get the picture thing down, I really want to take a profile shot so you can all see how much it looks like the Water Lily. It''s beautiful!

I also think my diamond sits a bit lower than yours, because it''s smaller and because the head begins right at the base of the ring. That''s a good thing because we were worried about me knocking the crud out of it.

When I get decent pictures, I''ll post them here and also in the show me the ring, the because I want to praise Wink and Whiteflash up. I was a pain for Jaime, and I think Paul was a bit of one for Wink. He was eager to get it. He called a lot. I called Jamie a lot, to ask about different diamonds, and I can only imagine how annoying it may have become to hear, "I''m not buying anything, but I think my boyfriend is, so can you create an Ideal Scope of yada yada yada?"

When the camera *or the operator* works, I''m gonna take tons; you''ll all say, "um, we get the idea. It''s pretty, but calm down, girl." Hee hee. I''m very enthusiastic and take it too far sometimes.

And I just did a Denise Austin workout, and she''s kinda crazy, you know. Gives me that surge of craziness all the more than I have alone. Ooh boy!

Jen - If you haven''t already, turn the flash off. It may be washing it out. Try using indirect natural light. I took some pictures outside yesterday, trying to capture the flash of the diamond, and they came out BLUE! It was weird! but those ghost shots definitely look like too much flash!

Wow, the ring looks gorgeous, fisher! The setting is so lovely & fluid & I like that the head is so low. And your stone looks like a firecracker! What beautiful, sparkly tulip!

It was wonderful to hear the engagement story from both of you & to see Paul back on PS again. You guys are such a sweet couple--wishing you a lifetime of love & happiness!

~~I love the ring!!

Did Paul get any handshots on his camera? Can''t wait to see them.

Thanks for the compliments. I hope to have pictures soon. Such a frustrating task!

CONGRATS, Jen and Paul!

Yes, we need to see some hand shots! Practice makes perfect.

And, what kind of band are you going to pair with that beauty??

Yes...I think your diamond does sit a bit lower than mine. It did take some getting used to for me but I love it. Makes my diamond look bigger than it actually is
2.gif
I''m glad you had good experiences with both and people will want to hear it...I didn''t work with WF but I have only the best things to say about Wink. He''s patient and pleasant...can''t ask for more than that. LOL...ok when the operator or camera gets fixed we''ll see some great shots I''m sure

About the wedding band, we''ve not been out to look at options, and I don''t know if a band will have a gap between itself and the engagement ring. I''m hoping not, but the flower petals do pooch out a little bit, so we''ll have to see.

I''m *hoping* to convince Paul that I NEED one with little tiny speckles of sparkle.
9.gif
I guess it depends on what looks good, but I really *think* I like the bands that have five tiny diamonds across the front, kind of spread out a little bit. We''ll see. I used to say that I only wanted a plain band, but this ring is WAY prettier than I thought it''d be, and I think it may need something just as pretty to be its partner. I think, too, that since Paul got his raise, bigger than he was expecting, he may be more generous than previously thought. Plus, he''s some kind of *P*R*O*U*D* of this ring he picked out.

I''m still waiting to see some handshots!!! Also, is Paul going to come back and officially ask for the two of you to be removed from the LIW list?? When I check it, and I''m looking at the names, I pause and think, "Wait a minute! They''re no longer LiW/GiW!! They are blissfully, happily engaged with a ring and everything."

OH yes...for sure you need some sparkles along with your gorgeous e-ring. I have an eternity band with round channel set diamonds and the sparkles are bouncing everywhere. It''s really amusing when I''m in home depot or even the dr office today LOL.

Okay, I totally felt like I *had* to clean my ring today, so I went to the store, and I remembered a lot of you saying you use Connoisseur Gold Jewelry Cleaner. A woman at work also uses it, so I thought I''d give it a try. I had no idea there were so many kinds! They have the red jar, the pink jar for *delicate* jewelry, the black jar for *professional* cleaning, and the gray for *sterling silver.* (I know I don''t need that one.) Then they have wipes, all kinds of wipes.

Now I don''t know if I need the pink, red, or black, and if I need it in liquid or wipes. Ooh, choices.

Here is a ROUGH idea of what I like for a wedding band, possibly. I want it to be THIN, with staggered out diamonds, tiny ones, maybe eight or so, all the way around. This picture is a flat ring, I want mine to be rounded though, to match my tulip ring. I don''t know if it exists, though. We''ll see. http://www.justicejewelers.com/specific_pro_details.aspx?itc=DA3900007&pic=DA3900007
