Good Morning All...

I have most of my wedding stuff together except for songs. I''ve been going back and forth trying to figure out what song do I want my bridesmaids to walk down the aisle to, what song I''ll walk down the aisle to and our first dance song. We originally were gonna dance to "Must be Nice" by Lyfe Jennings but I think it might be a bit too fast.

What are your song choices for your wedding? Any suggestions for my bridesmaids and my walk down the aisle?

For my ceremony, I''m having two guitarists play instrumental music throughout the ceremony - as for what the bridesmaids will walk down to, I''m leaving those choices up to them - as they know what sounds great....For me, I''m walking down to an instrumental guitar solo - don''t know what it''s called, but it sure is beautiful! haha Our First Dance will be Into the Mystic - Van Morrison

Are you thinking more classic songs like Canon in D? Or more contemporary songs?

Into The Mystic is my FI''s favorite song!! We were gonna dance to that too, but decided on God Blessed the Broken Road.

Ahhhh! I loooove that song too - definitely my fav :) And our band plays it beautifully, so i''m super excited about it!

I leaning more towards contemporary. This is the link to one of the songs I was considering for our First Dance. I''m trying to find something that beautiful and speaks from my heart. Let me know what you think.

We''re still thinking about what music we want for the ceremony. Our ceremony will be short, about 30 minutes probably.

We know we definitely want Canon in D. I''m not sure if that will be played on the harp (by a family friend) before the ceremony (as guests wait) or if I''ll use that one to walk down the aisle.

Here are some others we like and will probably use a few of them at some point during the ceremony. As I mentioned, we''re having a friend play the harp but our DJ will do the recessional. I provided the links because although the names of all of these songs are probably known, I always forget what some of them sound like -- especially since they''re instrumental).

Jesu Joy of Man''s Desiring by Bach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMA3ZRd5NWc

Ave Maria (again, played by the harp so there wouldn''t be vocals. We might use this as our moms walk down the aisle): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQQSW35PrEY

The Wedding Song (There is Love): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4_x24cVHr8&feature=related (we''d probably do an instrumental version)

Ode to Joy by Beethoven: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wod-MudLNPA&feature=related

Water Music, Air by Handel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0bHwyK0zfs (I''m not sure about using this one though).

For the father/daughter and mother/son dance (we''re combining them), we''re going to use "What a Wonderful World." Our first dance will be "Someone Like You" by Van Morrison. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mabTYfjzDzY

I know I want "Into the Mystic" played at some point as well but I''m not sure when. It doesn''t seem like the easiest song to dance to but I love it. I''ve mentioned this in other threads but we''re also having "True Companion" played too (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnaC6cgUmXc). That will be one of the songs in our DVD slideshow as well.

PHEW! That was a novel.

My bridesmaids are walking down the aisle to Rondeau by Mouret. I''m walking down the aisle to Spring from Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Our Recessional is It Had To Be You. All of this will be played on a guitar. For the ceremony and seating of the guests, we mostly picked Frank Sinatra classics (Fly Me To the Moon, My Way, etc.)...afterall, we are getting married in Vegas. ;)

Here are ours:

Prelude:

Enigma Variations No.9 (Nimrod) - Sir Edward Elgar

Processional:

Playing Love from ''Legend of 1900'' - Ennio Morricone

Signing of the Register:

Highlight Of My Life - Dolly Parton

I need to find a second piece that sounds okay before or after Dolly!

Recessional:

So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish from ''The Hitchhiker''s Guide to the Galaxy'' - Joby Talbot

We''re probably not doing a first dance - I have had major surgery on my back and it just doesn''t do dancing anymore. I used to dance a huge amount - at least 3 evenings a week, mainly Latin American or what they call Ballo Liscio in Italy - so I''m a bit sensitive about not being able to anymore and find it quite upsetting emotionally, especially if I feel people are watching.

Just had to add this as I never see this song mentioned but it''s so touching.

For one of my dances with my groom I''d like to have:

Other Pleasures/The First Man You Remember

It''s a touching duet between Michal Crawford (man who played Phantom in Phantom of the Opera for a very long time) and I can''t remember who the girl is.

The beginning part is from "Other Pleasures" and the man sings about how he would trade all these amazing treasures for this amazing woman and then it moves into the other part where he says

"I want to be
The first man you remember,
I want to be
The last man you forget.
I want to be
The one you always turn to,
I want to be
The one you won''t regret.
May I be first
To say you look delightful?
May I be first
To dance you round the floor?
The very first
To see your face by moonlight?
The very first
To walk you to your door?"

The girl of course says yes it''s very sweet. Kinda of a waltz. It''ll be a must at my wedding.

While we''re on the subject of music, I thought I''d throw out the possiblity of using Into the Mystic for the recessional. I''m not sure about that but I think it could work.
