Good morning all!

I am so excited to finally be resetting a stone that has so much sentimental value. Even more excited to be working with DK as he has been WONDERFUL.

The stone is very pale pink and will be reset in a rose gold halo of pink diamonds. This is probably one of those resets where the setting costs more than the stone, but I do not care because as I said, the stone is very sentimental to me.

Anyway, I'd love everyone's comments on this--I had originally wanted a more squared/angled halo but now that I see the rounded one I am not sure. I think it would be beautiful either way. So I'm wondering if since I have an emerald-cut halo already I should go for the more rounded halo, or stick with what I originally wanted. The ring is a hybrid design of my Queen Jillian solitaire (I am a sucker for tulip settings) and my original halo e-ring.

Thank you! :)

Before I opinion/comment
Can we see the stone being set?
Can you include a pic of the emerald cut halo you already have, as well?

I think there’s a thread knocking around here with more expensive settings ratio compared to a less costly center stone - welcome to the club :)

Yes, there is a thread like that! I need to revisit it. IMG_1528.jpgIMG_7243.JPG

Here are the pics. I'm pretty sure I've posted them somewhere here before, I am too lazy to find them right now. :P2

I guess the emerald halo is pretty rounded after all.

The pink only shows in certain lighting and at certain angles. Sometimes it looks clear. I am trying to bring it out the pink, which is why I'm setting it the way I am. When we bought the stone from some random booth on 47th street we were told it was morganite, but DK believes it is a white sapphire. I really do not know, there is no paperwork for the stone. We paid cash and walked away.

That’s a hard call!

DK’s Instagram shows a few examples of the more squared/angled halos
so imagining that -
alongside the cad
alongside your current ring

I feel theres enough difference in the ‘roundness’ between the CAD and your current ring for that different-ness to be noticeable.
that doesn’t address your initial wish for the more squared/angled….. Are you meaning the same type of halo pave and more squared off ( smaller melee to achieve that I think) or switch to bead/bright set so the “walls” create the sharper angularity?

either way you pick - you’ll have two very lovely halo’d rings!

I think you're right about the smaller melee, and I know I do not want smaller melee. I didn't consider bead set! I know what you mean about the walls. It might take away from the look I am going for with this.

What I'm having a hard time with is if I leave it as is and then I get that annoying nagging feeling. What a problem to have LOL
