Long post, TLDR: Need to make a choice between stones, one is here the other on the way.

Hi there! Haven't been on here for a while. Back in July we were looking for sapphires and settings but then our house burned down while on vacation in Los Angeles. I learned later that he was planning on proposing with a surprise visit while down there to Gemfix to choose what I wanted :cry2:

Now that we are in a better situation, we are ready to go forward with the ring! I originally wanted a pale blue violet sapphire and ordered two along with a last minute aqua color thrown in. Surprisingly we liked the aqua one best that almost wasn't ordered!

Unfortunately it is smaller than I prefer at 7x6, I prefer closer to 9x7. It also turns quite gray in warm lighting, which I understand is common for montana sapphires. Because of this I decided to order one more in that color. Here is the stone I have now:

They are both gorgeous, and I love the soft blue! From the photos, I like the Earths Treasury one better. It will be nice if you can compare them side by side in a variety of lights. A little moodiness to the color can also be sweet. You might be able to find a lavender mood instead of grey.

So sorry to hear about your fire, but it’s good that you’re recovering and planning your future. Best wishes!

So sorry to hear about your fire. I’m glad things are better now and you are able to start your search for your dream stone. The Gemfix stone looks beautiful, but if it’s not exactly what you are looking for, you are right to keep looking. The Earth’s Treasury stone also looks beautiful and comparing the two stones in person is a great way to figure out your likes and dislikes. I’m looking forward to seeing photos and hearing your thoughts once the second stone arrives =)2.

As promised I am back with pictures and video! I have decided to go with the first stone from gemfix. The earth treasury (the middle) one has a beautiful cut but it is darker and more green than I was hoping for. Still would have liked bigger but my boyfriend said we can always upgrade later, especially since we are going with the cheaper stone ;)2

I prefer the middle one, but that's because I mainly like that color.

I’m so happy you found your stone! Comparing two stones side by side is not only fun, but can sometimes make the decision of which stone to pick very easy. It’s a beautiful stone for your engagement ring. Congratulations!

I like the Gemfix one that you picked because of the rectangle shape and the color. Congrats! :)) ... now how will you be setting it?

Whoops! I thought I put in that I threw the blue one in the video just because I had it.:rolleyes2: I prefer rectangle too but I'm keeping the smallest aqua sapphire. I realized I like closer to colorless for my engagement ring. As far as setting it I'm thinking a pretty simple diamond band. I tried on this style with the pave though and absolutely loved it but I don't think you can change out the head size and i don't know how well the pave will hold up.tmpD479.jpg

I love the one you picked! It’s not too dark and it has a lovely romantic color. So happy for you!! Enjoy!!

I am so excited you chose the 7 x 6mm, I think the color is great for an engagement stone. I am very excited to follow your journey designing your ring :)) I hopefully will be picking an engagement stone soon, and would like something different than the standard diamond/moissanite ring, so can't wait to see how yours turns out!! Congrats!

Thank you and I'm excited for you too! I was surprised how much they shift in different lighting so I definitely recommend choosing something that you can return if you don't like how it changes. I would have loved to be able to see all the inventory from where we purchased but that may have been too many options lol.
