First Sapphire purchase, what do you think?

It’s very beautiful. That colour does carry a premium price and it’s very well cut but for a heated gem it is more than I personally would pay.
However sometimes you just have to pay what’s being asked to get a specific colour, size and shape.
The most important thing is to see it in person under “your” lighting conditions to make sure it is as you expect. If it’s not, you can always return it.

Congratulations on a beautiful sapphire!

I agree; price seems high for the quality.

.

Has anyone tried GemConcepts for colour yet?

I do not understand the prices of classically blue sapphire, sure enough; eg. I'd say this says - 'it will never sell & we do not care' www ; by comparison, yours is not quite so & not nearly that much & not so small...

I realize I was paying full retail but I like the idea of buying from a gem cutter who really knows his stuff and that intense color was kind of hard to find for a stone that size. Lots of bigger stones with that but way out of my price range. Cant wait to see it. Worse case I could return it. It seemed to have a lot of fire and the description says it does not black out in lower light.

It definitely seems as though the cost of trade ideal color is going up. I can't wait to see it and what you think irl. Should be gorgeous. Do you know what you will do with it already?

I just got an email, that it is arriving today! I actually don't have a design for it yet, I always wanted a sapphire for a man's ring and I finally pulled the trigger. Been doing a lot of research, dont want it to look like an engagement ring so for mens rings unfortunately that usually means I have going to have to spend a lot more on the amount of metal for a decent setting. Probably something very modern, very unusual, more on the minimal side of design.

For an unusual men's ring I would check out Boone rings. The owner is awesome and IMHO tension settings are super cool.

Thanks Lovedogs, I actually own a Boone ring and love tension settings. Only thing is, he does not work with gold or other precious metals. Any other suggestions?
