Flower Girl Question

I''m a almost a year out from my May 18, 2008 wedding date and wondering whether I should ask the parents of my flower girls if their girls could be in my wedding now or if I should hold off for a bit.

How far in advance did you ask the parents of your flower girl(s) to have their kids in your wedding? Or if you didn''t have kids in your wedding, how far in advance would you suggest asking the parents? Also, when did you offer dress suggestions/ideas for the flower girl(s)?

We asked our flower girls at the same time that we asked our bridesmaids. We ordered dresses 6 months out, but only because we found a great deal on adorable dresses and we were afraid they''d be gone by the time we wanted to order.

When we were ordering our flower girl dresses, we were told if we went beyond three months before the wedding, we ought to order the next size (or sometimes you can get a half size) up. We ordered them three months before the wedding, and neither had grown too much. Lots of times you''ll find little girl dresses have deeper hems, too, which allows for letting them be longer, since kids can go through such growth spurts.

I asked my kiddos right away, because they''ve all been talking about it for years now. As for when to ask, I don''t think it''s ever too early to ask the PARENTS, but I''d hate for a kid to be thinking about a wedding and anticipating it for forever, because you know, a week seems like the rest of their lives to them!
