I have a 9 year old cousin who''s small for her age but 9 years old nonetheless. Anwyays she''ll be 10 when I get married and I''m thinking that may be too old to have her as a flower girl in my wedding. The only painful part of that then is I have to have her be a jr bridesmaid. Coordinating dresses with the ones I like is giong to be tough since brands like Siri dont make jr bridesmaid dresses.

Any thoughts on the age of flower girls and how that works vs junior bridesmaids?

Were you around for the whole Robbie the Sexy Flower Girl episode? If not, search on here for it. See? Never too old to be a flower girl!

Seriously, though, what I would do is just re-cast her role. Call her a ''Flower Maiden'' instead of a Junior BM or a Flower Girl. You don''t need to color by numbers, if you know what I mean! That way, you give her a nod that you recognize that she is ''grown up'', but you don''t have to deal with the dress issue.

I like Independent Girl''s idea. Flower maidens can have a more grown up dress but doesn''t have to match the bridesmaids dresses.

What about still having her be a Jr. Bridesmaid but looking for dresses that she''d be able to wear again (not specifically labeled or described as "Jr. Bridesmaid")? More options in terms of color and/or style may be available that way.

I have 5 small bridesmaids.

The 2 four-year-olds and the eight and nine-year-old will all be flowergirls, and the twelve-year-old will be a junior bridesmaid.

I''m calling them all Bridesmaids - as we don''t really have a specific ''flower-girl'' thing here in the UK

What does she want to do?

I ask because I had a 9 year old flower girl and a 10 year old junior bridesmaid... but they both had the roles they wanted. The jr. bridesmaid dress we used was shorter (knee length) than the bridesmaid dresses (full length)... so they don''t have to match perfectly. also, it doesn''t have to be exactly the same style.

Hrmm... I think she thinks she''s a flower girl because she''s been one 3x before. I like the idea of ''Flower Maiden'' over making her a jr bridesmaid. I doubt she''ll mind but it may be a good idea to ask her what she''d like to be.
